*A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days is required. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-5pm EST.

YOUR ROLE
The Lead Network Engineer serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, engineering, implementation, and support of Genworth’s enterprise network infrastructure. This role provides advanced technical expertise across campus, data center, cloud, WAN, Internet edge, and security platforms while driving network modernization, operational excellence, and architectural consistency.


The Lead Network Engineer partners closely with Network Operations, Information Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Services, and application teams to deliver highly available, secure, and scalable connectivity solutions. This position functions as both a technical expert and team leader, mentoring engineers, leading complex projects, resolving critical incidents, and helping define the future-state network architecture supporting Genworth's business objectives.
 

What you will be doing

  • Lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise network infrastructure across data center, campus, cloud, WAN, and remote-access environments.
  • Serve as the technical lead for complex network initiatives, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization programs.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture standards, design patterns, engineering documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts for critical network incidents, major outages, and complex performance issues.
  • Partner with Network Operations teams to improve reliability, automation, monitoring, observability, and operational efficiency.
  • Design and implement resilient routing, switching, wireless, Internet, and cloud networking solutions.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF, across enterprise data center, campus, WAN, cloud, and hybrid network environments.
  • Support and optimize secure access technologies, including VPN, SASE/SSE, SD-WAN, and Zero Trust networking architectures.
  • Collaborate with Information Security teams to implement network security controls, segmentation strategies, firewall policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and develop recommendations aligned to business and technology strategy.
  • Lead capacity planning, performance analysis, and infrastructure scalability initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and engineering best practices.
  • Develop automation solutions using scripting and infrastructure-as-code methodologies to streamline network operations.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, change management processes, and technical governance activities.
  • Work with vendors, managed service providers, and technology partners to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Support cloud networking architectures across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environment deployments.
  • Participate in on-call support and major incident response activities as required.


What you bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, network architecture, or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Advanced expertise with enterprise routing and switching technologies.
  • Strong experience with Cisco networking platforms including Catalyst, Nexus, and related management tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise firewall and security solutions, preferably Palo Alto Networks.
  • Advanced experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting protocols, including BGP and OSPF, along with strong knowledge of EIGRP, MPLS, SD-WAN, DNS, NTP, DHCP, IPAM, and network segmentation principles.
  • Experience designing and supporting cloud networking solutions within Azure and/or AWS environments.
  • Knowledge of SASE/SSE architectures, remote access technologies, and Zero Trust networking concepts.
  • Experience with network monitoring, telemetry, observability, and performance management platforms.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams.


PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud-delivered security platforms, including Prisma Access or similar SSE/SASE solutions.
  • Experience with network automation frameworks, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with network access control (NAC), microsegmentation, and Zero Trust security architectures.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and analytics platforms such as SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, LogicMonitor, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks including NIST CSF, CIS Controls, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed enterprise environments and multi-site networks.
  • Prior experience leading technical teams, project delivery efforts, or engineering workstreams.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

National Range: $120,900 - $187,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
