Job Summary:
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Network Engineer to assist with the design, implementation, and support of mission-critical LAN/WAN networks and systems. The role involves troubleshooting network issues, maintaining system configurations, and providing persistent network monitoring to meet ongoing mission requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Network Lead and other IT personnel with the end-to-end design, implementation, and support of mission-critical LAN/WAN networks and systems.
• Develop and maintain network system configurations and service standards to ensure optimal network health.
• Document, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network and system issues to reduce latency and improve performance.
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and technical documentation using Microsoft Visio.
• Test and evaluate network systems and services to proactively identify problems and implement improvements.
• Assist with the configuration, implementation, and utilization of NetScout, Wireshark, SolarWinds, and other advanced monitoring tools.
• Provide persistent network monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting to support ongoing mission requirements.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Must have DoD 8570 compliant certification: CompTIA Security+, CASP, or CISSP.
• CCNA or CCNP preferred, or equivalent certification (Juniper, Brocade, or Palo Alto).
• Proficiency in Cisco routing and switching design and configuration across Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Layer 2/3 routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, and HSRP.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Visio for professional network mapping.
Preferred:
• Experience deploying and managing Cisco devices, Brocade/Juniper platforms, and Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls.
• Expertise in security and compliance measures, including DISA STIGs implementation and ACAS/Tenable scanning.
• Experience with secure remote access solutions such as Cisco Secure Client (formerly AnyConnect) and Palo Alto GlobalProtect.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux workstation and server configuration and operation.
• Knowledge of Unified Communications, including Cisco Telephony (CUCM, VOIP) and VTC infrastructure (Room Kit Pro, TMS, VCS, CMS).
• Experience managing physical AV components such as display routing and microphones.
• Familiarity of cryptographic devices and COMSEC procedures.
