The Postion:

Serve as the Network Specialist, responsible for monitoring systems and networks at critical sites, including the Pentagon, to ensure optimal performance and situational awareness for national military Command and Control (C2) systems in the National Capital Region and remote locations.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical network monitoring and performance management support of information systems operations for C2 systems and the assets designated critical and special interest sites. Plan, direct and coordinate Network Monitoring and Management: Oversee technical network monitoring and performance management for specific information systems. Coordinate network operations to ensure reliability and quality transmission.
  • Application Administration: Manage and troubleshoot commercial applications within a designated system environment. Document outages and conduct performance analysis to ensure system functionality.
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with customers and leadership to address technical issues. Provide system administration support and offer guidance on network performance.
  • Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve network problems, keeping management and customers informed. Advise on network performance improvements.
  • Enhancement Planning: Plan and implement network upgrades and enhancements. Record outages and conduct system performance evaluations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor network, server, and application availability. Collect performance data and identify potential issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Incident Management: Troubleshoot network-related incidents and develop strategies for improvement. Document outages and ensure proper notifications.
  • System Maintenance: Run batch jobs or scripts to maintain system uptime. Analyze performance data and recommend solutions.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with designated sites for performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Assist with SNMP configuration and software installation.
  • Judgment and Planning: Exercise independent judgment in achieving contract objectives. Anticipate customer needs and plan system upgrades accordingly.
  • Resource Management: Manage resource usage to optimize network availability and minimize costs. Communicate effectively with users and external organizations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety, security, and other protocols. Stay updated on training and certification requirements.


Additional Information:

  • 100% on-site at the Pentagon.
  • This is a SWING shift role (Mon-Fri 1400- 2230).
Requirements:
  • Minimum Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility; AND,
  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND,
  • 5+ years of general information technology experience

  • Active CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
