Job Description
The Senior Network Engineer is a hybrid engineering and operations leader responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting enterprise network services across on-premises and cloud environments.
In addition to core networking expertise, this role is expected to drive automation and leverage AI capabilities to improve operational efficiency, standardization, and scalability-particularly in areas such as Palo Alto firewall configuration management and deployment workflows.
Palo Alto Firewall Engineering (Primary Focus)
  • Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto NGFW infrastructure including policies, NAT, VPN, and segmentation
  • Manage centralized configuration via Panorama and ensure consistency across environments
  • Lead firewall optimization, rule lifecycle management, and security posture improvements

AI & Automation for Palo Alto (Key Expectation)
  • Develop and implement automated firewall rule deployment ("push automation") using APIs, scripting, or orchestration tools
  • Reduce manual changes by building standardized templates and policy models
  • Explore and implement AI-assisted workflows to:
    • Identify redundant or unused rules
    • Recommend rule optimization or cleanup
    • Detect anomalies or misconfigurations in policy sets
  • Integrate firewall automation into CI/CD-style pipelines where applicable
  • Partner with security teams to align automation with governance and audit requirements

Cisco Meraki (Store / Branch / Edge)
  • Deploy and support Meraki MX/MS/MR infrastructure across distributed environments
  • Standardize configurations for rapid store/branch rollout
  • Automate repetitive tasks (config templating, provisioning, monitoring Workflows)
  • Develop AI monitoring capabilities with the goal of issue identification, notification and remediation within Meraki

Cisco Routing & Switching
  • Configure and support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and enterprise switching
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues including packet-level analysis
  • Contribute to resilient network design and failover strategies

Azure Networking & Hybrid Connectivity
  • Design and manage Azure networking (VNets, subnets, routing, NSGs, connectivity)
  • Implement hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute / VPN) between on-prem and cloud
  • Align network patterns with secure cloud architecture principles

Automation & AI Expectations
This role is expected to lead the evolution from manual operations to automated and intelligent network management:
  • Identify and eliminate repetitive operational tasks through automation
  • Build reusable automation frameworks across:
    • Firewall changes (Palo Alto focus)
    • Network provisioning and configuration
    • Monitoring and alerting workflows
  • Evaluate and introduce AI-assisted tooling to:
    • Improve troubleshooting accuracy
    • Enhance observability and predictive insights
    • Support decision-making in network and security operations
  • Drive adoption of automation across the team (documentation, standards, mentoring)

Leadership Expectations
  • Act as a technical lead and escalation point across networking and security domains
  • Mentor engineers on both networking fundamentals and automation practices
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives (network, cloud, security, operations)
  • Influence roadmap decisions with focus on scalability, automation, and efficiency
  • Balance delivery of projects with ownership of operational health

Qualifications
  • 7+ years in enterprise network engineering (LAN/WAN/security/cloud)
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Palo Alto firewalls (required)
    • Cisco routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
    • Cisco Meraki
    • Azure networking
  • Proven ability to operate in a build + run (50/50) environment
  • Experience developing or using automation (scripting, APIs, infrastructure-as-code)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Palo Alto automation (Panorama APIs, scripting, orchestration)
  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven operational tools or observability platforms
  • Relevant certifications (CCNP, Palo Alto certifications, Azure networking)
