Job Description Summary
Dematic Corp. has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer within our Lifecycle Services and Solutions - Modernizations & Upgrades organization. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years of experience in network design, along with domain expertise in material handling and industrial automation environments.
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of network architectures across Dematic's projects. This role provides technical leadership and guidance to project teams in the design and implementation of large-scale data communication networks.
Key responsibilities include defining configuration and installation standards for LAN and WAN environments, leveraging switching, routing, and network monitoring technologies. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, scalability, and reliability across deployed solutions.

This Is What You Will Do in This Role:

Design, specify, and configure networks supporting SCADA, PLC, and industrial automation systems.

o Define and document network segmentation strategies.

o Contribute to cybersecurity design requirements and best practices.

o Review and validate network design drawings for accuracy and compliance.

Provide technical oversight for Operational Technology (OT) network design and support cross-functional project teams.

Coordinate network equipment configuration, including defining physical interfaces, communication protocols, IP addressing schemes, VLAN structures, and firewall rules.

Support the design and implementation of OT network architectures to ensure reliable and secure system performance.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues across network devices and infrastructure in both development and operational environments.

Assist in developing network solutions for new projects by analyzing system designs and RFQ specifications.

Maintain current knowledge of industry technologies, standards, and best practices through ongoing training, certifications, and professional development.

What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of relevant experience

Strong understanding of industrial plant-floor network infrastructure, including clear differentiation between IT and OT environments.

Solid background in industrial automation systems and architectures.

Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routers, switches, and VLAN design.

Strong expertise in firewalls and industrial cybersecurity principles.

Experience designing and supporting Industrial DMZ architectures.

Hands-on experience with IoT-connected devices in industrial environments.

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and architectures, such as OPC.

Relevant certifications (e.g., Belden/Hirschmann, Cisco, or equivalent industrial networking credentials) preferred.

Core Competencies

Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues in dynamic environments.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to conduct network audits and provide recommendations on architecture, equipment layout, cabling, and infrastructure design.

Collaborative team player who provides technical guidance and supports cross-functional initiatives.

Experience presenting and communicating network standards and best practices to internal teams and stakeholders.

Additional Requirements

Willingness to travel up to 40% and work additional hours as needed to support project and business demands.
