Responsibilities
Position Summary
Peraton is seeking an Information Technology Infrastructure Manager, responsible for leading and managing enterprise infrastructure operations, ensuring the availability, security, scalability, and performance of all IT systems and services. This role oversees a team providing 24x7x365 infrastructure support across Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization platforms, networking, cloud technologies, messaging and collaboration systems, cybersecurity infrastructure, backup and disaster recovery operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with proven experience modernizing enterprise infrastructure, implementing automation, improving operational stability, and leading high-performing technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations & Leadership
  • Lead and manage a technical infrastructure team responsible for 24x7x365 operational support.
  • Oversee enterprise infrastructure environments including:
    • Windows and Linux servers
    • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
    • Office 365 and SharePoint
    • Virtualization platforms
    • Backup and disaster recovery systems
    • Network and data center infrastructure
  • Ensure infrastructure availability, reliability, scalability, and performance while meeting departmental SLAs.
  • Develop operational standards, policies, procedures, and best practices for infrastructure management.

Infrastructure Modernization & Engineering
  • Lead enterprise infrastructure transformation initiatives to modernize outdated systems into secure, high-performance environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain hyperconverged infrastructure solutions such as Nutanix.
  • Architect and support VMware Horizon VDI environments to support remote workforce operations.
  • Implement redundancy and high-availability technologies including:
    • Clustering
    • Data mirroring
    • Redundant power systems
    • Failover technologies
  • Design and maintain disaster recovery (DR) data center capabilities and business continuity strategies.
  • Build and support infrastructure for cybersecurity operational environments.
  • Lead server virtualization initiatives for Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Implement and manage Kubernetes cluster technologies and containerized environments.

Automation, Security & Compliance
  • Design and implement infrastructure automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Develop automated patch management processes to ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and stable.
  • Partner closely with Cybersecurity teams to strengthen infrastructure security and improve operational processes.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security standards, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively address risks and vulnerabilities.

Backup, Recovery & Data Protection
  • Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions including cloud-ready technologies such as Cohesity.
  • Ensure reliable backup, retention, restoration, and disaster recovery capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Validate recovery procedures through regular testing and documentation.

Team Development & Customer Engagement
  • Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative, customer-focused technical team.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop technical staff to improve performance and technical expertise.
  • Implement continuous learning initiatives through internal and external training programs.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to improve communication, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a results-oriented culture focused on service excellence and customer satisfaction.

Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with internal business units to understand operational requirements and business impact.
  • Conduct recurring meetings with customers and stakeholders to communicate maintenance plans, project updates, and service improvements.
  • Develop and maintain test and development environments to validate system changes prior to production deployment.
  • Ensure stable and consistent delivery of enterprise IT services.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience with leadership responsibilities.
  • Active TS/SCI or Q clearance
  • Strong experience managing enterprise Windows and Linux server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • VMware technologies including Horizon
    • Nutanix HCI platforms
    • Office 365 and SharePoint
    • Kubernetes and container technologies
    • Backup and recovery platforms such as Cohesity
  • Experience designing and supporting disaster recovery and high-availability solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, patch management, and infrastructure security.
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization and automation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams in a fast-paced operational environment.

    • ITIL
    • CISSP or Security-related certifications

Target Salary Range
$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
