About the Role

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, optimization, and security of Howard Hughes network infrastructure across various site types such as corporate, operations, sales centers, and cloud-connected environments. This role helps ensure reliable connectivity and is responsible for implementing and testing complex infrastructure in support of our business needs. As a member of the Infrastructure Team, this position will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager.

This individual will provide advanced technical support for complex network and infrastructure issues, work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot incidents, and partner with project managers and other IT teams on deployments, upgrades, and ongoing improvements. The role also supports infrastructure standards, documentation, risk reduction, reduce costs, and continuous improvement efforts to help maintain a secure, scalable, and well-managed environment.


What You Will Do

  • Understand, promote, and demonstrate The Howard Hughes way

  • Design, implement, support, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across office, remote, and cloud-connected environments

  • Support and troubleshoot WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, voice, and related network services to maintain reliable connectivity and performance across the business

  • Engineer, deploy, and support network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, security appliances, wireless infrastructure, and other related network devices

  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot secure connectivity solutions including IPSec tunnels, SD-WAN technologies, secure remote access services, and zero trust network access capabilities

  • Support cloud-connected and hybrid network environments, including the use of cloud-based network management and monitoring platforms

  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity, performance, and security issues across local and wide area networks, remote access services, and related infrastructure

  • Support network security and resiliency through assessments, audits, reviews, and remediation activities

  • Participate in infrastructure projects including new deployments, upgrades, migrations, and site initiatives

  • Monitor infrastructure health, respond to alerts and incidents, and help drive timely resolution of service-impacting issues

  • Maintain accurate diagrams, standards, procedures, and technical documentation for supported environments

  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding incidents, planned changes, maintenance windows, and service impacts

  • Collaborate with engineers, support teams, security teams, and project resources to develop practical, supportable solutions

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of infrastructure standards, operational processes, and network-related procedures

About You

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' networking experience working in a like role or 5 years of experience working in Managed Services.

  • Proven ability to manage IT processes and procedures, including incident management, change management, and performance monitoring.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships at all levels across the organization and externally.

  • Required Technical Proficiencies:

  • Switching and network infrastructure, including capacity planning, configuration, support, and troubleshooting of managed network devices.

  • Routing and network services, including BGP, static routing, policy-based routing, route redistribution, and related enterprise routing concepts.

  • WAN and edge connectivity technologies, including SD-WAN, IPSec VPNs, internet-based WAN connectivity, and hybrid cloud network connectivity.

  • Voice technologies, including POTS, VoIP, and SIP trunking.

  • Enterprise wireless networking, including cloud-managed and on-premises controller-based wireless environments.

  • Familiarity with enterprise firewalls, security appliances, and secure remote access technologies.

  • Knowledge of network security principles and supporting security technologies, including endpoint protection, email security, web filtering, and related controls.

  • Understanding of security best practices, hardening standards, access control, segmentation, and threat mitigation.

  • Strong technical expertise in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with Cloud technologies, as well as multiple SaaS services.
