Description
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain router configurations across the network, including adherence to established change management processes for documentation and approval.
  • Develop and implement gradual automation of network deployment and configuration processes.
  • Maintain technical proficiency across all network infrastructure, including related hardware, software, and interconnected devices.
  • Implement, update, and maintain firewall rules on applicable network devices.
  • Collaborate with the security team to select and deploy security tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily operations, including repairs, upgrades, configuration changes, alarm reporting, E-911 systems, and related records.
  • Design, set up, configure and maintain complex switching/routing environments with a proficient understanding of dynamic routing protocols.
  • Assist with installation, turn-up, testing, and certification of new equipment for network expansion, including network facilities, switches, routers, and core transport equipment.
  • Support the selection and implementation of enterprise software; contribute to process flows that ensure system integration and eliminate manual cross-referencing.

• Logically and physically separate network infrastructure between different business entities and/or segments to ensure data security, regulatory compliance, performance optimization, and operational independence.
  • Assist with FTTH network design and equipment implementation.

• Establish and perform network connectivity to the new LTE/5G sites and new aggregation points of presence to support the backhaul requirements of the cellular network.
• Coordinate with the Network Operations Center (NOC) on network performance related issues to ensure issues are being resolved in a timely manner.
• Establish and perform IP subnet design & BGP design and provisioning.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software applications to resolve operational issues and restore services.
• Assist in disaster recovery planning and implementation for network services.
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain current technical knowledge and industry awareness.
  • Perform duties with an emphasis on operational efficiency, cost control, and revenue protection.
  • Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Education, Certification, Skills, and Training Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of network engineering experience.
  • Telecommunications engineering experience preferred but not required.
  • Current CCNA and/or CCDA certification required. CCNP preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including IPsec, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP models.
  • Demonstrated hands-on network engineering experience.
  • Experience using network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools.
