Job description

About EG
Engineers Gate (EG) is a leading investment manager founded in 2014 as a quantitative, computer-driven trading firm. Today, EG operates as a diversified, multi-strategy investment platform that combines systematic research with selective discretionary approaches.
EG's multi-manager platform allows independent investment teams to pursue distinct strategies while benefiting from shared infrastructure, risk management, and operational support. The firm's collaborative groups of researchers, engineers, and investment professionals deploy sophisticated statistical models, proprietary technology, and a centralized data platform to isolate and solve challenging problem sets in the global financial markets.

About The Role
We are seeking a Network Engineer to help lead network projects at the firm. Reporting into the Systems Infrastructure Team, this individual will serve as a primary driver of network engineering initiatives including counterparty integrations, new office buildouts, and ongoing network projects.

This role is designed for an experienced, collaborative professional looking for a growth opportunity. While network engineering will be the initial focus, the breadth of responsibilities is expected to expand over time.

This is an on-site role based out of our New York City office, five days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead network projects at the firm, including counterparty integrations, new office buildouts, and ongoing network initiatives
  • Design, implement, operate, and support network infrastructure across all layers of the environment
  • Manage routing, switching, and firewall systems
  • Support and expand cloud networking capabilities, particularly within AWS
  • Develop and maintain scripting and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency
  • Enforce and evolve network security best practices and controls
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other infrastructure team members on shared projects and priorities

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in a network and/or network security role
  • Strong expertise in traditional networking - routing, switching, and firewall systems
  • Proficiency in scripting and/or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of security best practices and controls
  • Superb communication and strong project management skills
  • Ability to learn new platforms and technologies quickly
  • Familiarity with public cloud environments, particularly AWS
  • Financial industry experience helpful, but not required

The base salary for this role is anticipated to be $200,000-$250,000, excluding potential bonuses, additional compensation, and benefits. Actual compensation will depend on various factors including skills, experience, and qualifications.Â
