Description

As a Network Engineer I, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of FiberLight's network infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers. You will collaborate with engineering teams to help ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our network. This role offers hands-on learning opportunities in routing protocols, basic network automation, and Layer 2 networking, helping you build a foundation in telecommunications engineering. 


Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructures.

Follow process documents to configure network devices

Help configure and troubleshoot basic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.

Support the development of simple network automation scripts using Python and Ansible.

Learn to use GitHub for version control and collaboration on network projects.

Participate in network performance monitoring and basic optimization tasks.

Assist in maintaining network security and compliance with industry standards.

Help document network configurations, procedures, and basic designs. 

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

2 years of relevant experience in networking or telecommunications (internships or entry-level roles count).

Layer 1- Experience troubleshooting physical network equipment and cabling

Layer 2- Understanding of networking technologies, such as MPLS and EVPL.

Layer 3- Basic familiarity with BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols.

Introductory knowledge of Python and Ansible for network automation.

Awareness of GitHub for version control.

Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Experience creating and maintaining documented processes

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other network equipment is a plus.

Entry-level certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, Network+) are a plus.

Basic knowledge of network security practices.

Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Interest in SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies.
