Job Title: Systems Administrator & Network Engineer (Hybrid Role)
Location: Hybrid (On-site + 1 Day Remote)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Systems Administrator & Network Engineer to manage, maintain, and enhance our IT infrastructure. This hybrid role combines deep systems administration expertise with advanced network engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience delivering infrastructure projects, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across both systems and network environments. While supporting a robust data driven high availability Clinical Environment.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems (Windows Server, VMware Virtual Servers, Wyse Clients, Laptops and Desktops), and enterprise applications.

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies using Active Directory and related identity systems.

  • Perform routine system maintenance, upgrades, and patch management.

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability; proactively address issues.

  • Develop and manage Veeam backups and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

  • Automate administrative and operational tasks using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Network Engineering

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure network infrastructures (LAN, WAN, WLAN).

  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and load balancers.

  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues such as outages, bottlenecks, and latency.

  • Implement network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and access controls.

  • Support cloud and hybrid networking environments (Azure, SD-WAN).

  • Maintain and update network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and procedures utilizing tools such as Scribe software and Microsoft Visio.

Cross-Functional & Project Work

  • Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects (e.g., Server migrations, EMR and equipment upgrades, cloud adoption, network redesign).

  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to implement new technologies and optimize systems.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry security standards.

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support IT staff when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of operating systems: Windows Server, Windows 11 and ThinOS.

  • Deep understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP.

  • Experience with enterprise hardware: routers, switches, firewalls (Fortigate, Fortinet, or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud platforms (VMware, Azure).

  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools for systems and networks.

Professional Experience

  • 4–8+ years of hands-on experience in systems administration and/or network engineering roles.

  • Proven track record of delivering infrastructure or network-related projects (e.g., deployments, migrations, upgrades).

  • Experience supporting hybrid or multi-site environments.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Relevant certifications preferred:

    • CompTIA Server+, RHCSA, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator

    • CCNA / CCNP or equivalent networking certifications

    • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure) are a plus

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
