Job description

Ethernet Design Engineer
100% Remote (CST, MST, or PST preferred)
Pay: $80,000-100,000

Overview
Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 5-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products
  • Evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner
  • Delivering a service via Fiber
  • Put designs together using Visio (document/process deliverable)
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to both work independently and collaborate effectively with others

Required Skills

  • Understanding of Layer 2 Ethernet, designing services like metro-E or Carrier Ethernet
  • Understanding of fiberoptics, plant work, knowing different fiber types
  • Overall – delivering a service via Fiber. Splice points / distance, Fiber Pads at a high level
  • Experience with Ciena switches, Cisco Routers, Nokia Routers
  • Visio is a must for putting designs together.
  • Design (Fiber/Coax)
