Job description

Role Purpose

As a Sr. Network Security Engineer, you will provide hands-on network security support with a strong focus on network investigation, firewall administration, incident troubleshooting, and request fulfillment.You will support primarily manufacturing environments, researching and resolving customer network issues while implementing and maintaining firewall policies and configurations. You will work with enterprise network and security technologies as part of Corning’s Global Cybersecurity Operations organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate network issues and perform technical research to troubleshoot and resolve customer incidents.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot firewalls and other network security appliances.
  • Create and manage firewall rulesets, policies, access control lists, network configurations, and routing.
  • Create virtual firewalls with appropriate configurations and security policies.
  • Analyze firewall logs and security information using SIEM technologies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze packet trace information to identify network and security issues.
  • Configure and support remote-access and site-to-site VPN functionality.
  • Install vendor-approved firmware and maintain security appliances according to established procedures and best practices.
  • Support request fulfillment, including researching and implementing changes to existing firewall policies and network devices.
  • Support vulnerability management activities and investigate security events using established procedures and analytical tools.
  • Work closely with users and customers to understand technical needs and implement appropriate network security solutions.
  • Support manufacturing environments while minimizing operational impact.
  • Participate in after-hours support and/or an on-call rotation when required.
What do you need to have?
    • Strong network expertise and advanced network troubleshooting skills.
    • 3–5+ years of hands-on firewall experience. 
    • Strong hands-on experience with firewall administration and troubleshooting. 
    • Experience creating and managing firewall rulesets and security policies.
    • Knowledge of routing, network configurations, interfaces, access control lists, and network security concepts.
    • Experience analyzing firewall logs and working with SIEM technologies.
    • Strong experience with vulnerability management.
    • Experience with enterprise firewall technologies; Palo Alto Networks and Juniper are particularly relevant to the current environment.
    • Ability to investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Advanced English communication skills.
    • Availability to work primarily onsite in Monterrey and provide after-hours/on-call support when required.
