Network Installation Technician
Travel across Mid-West / Western Territories (All Travel Paid)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Network Installation Technician to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure and connected technology systems across multiple locations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work and has experience with structured cabling, network hardware deployments, low-voltage systems, and basic network troubleshooting.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time traveling to customer sites, installing network and access control equipment, verifying connectivity, and partnering with technical teams to ensure successful implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Infrastructure Installation
  • Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a cabling.
  • Install data drops, patch panels, network switches, wireless access points, and related hardware.
  • Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools (Fluke or similar).
  • Ensure all installations meet structured cabling standards and industry best practices.
  • Security & Access Control Systems
  • Deploy and configure Verkada access control, intercom, and similar security platforms.
  • Install readers, controllers, door hardware, magnetic locks, electric strikes, sensors, and associated components.
  • Run, terminate, and verify low-voltage cabling supporting access control and security devices.
  • Assist with device provisioning, system connectivity, and functional testing.
  • Network Support & Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and resolve basic network connectivity issues involving physical and logical network layers.
  • Troubleshoot cable faults, switch ports, endpoint connectivity, and hardware issues.
  • Validate IP addressing, VLAN assignments, and basic switch configurations when required.
  • Collaborate with remote engineering teams to resolve more advanced networking issues.
  • Documentation & Field Support
  • Maintain accurate documentation for installations, equipment inventories, and cable layouts.
  • Update network diagrams and asset records following project completion.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, customers, and third-party vendors throughout installation projects.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a professional presence at customer locations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of experience performing structured cabling or low-voltage installations.
  • Hands-on experience installing network infrastructure, including switches, patch panels, and data drops.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, and switching concepts.
  • Experience deploying Verkada products or comparable access control, intercom, or physical security systems.
  • Proficiency using cable certification equipment, testers, tone generators, and common installation tools.
  • Valid driver''s license with the ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Additional Information:
  • Approximately 70% of the role will focus on installation activities, with the remaining 30% dedicated to network troubleshooting and technical support.
  • This is a field-based position requiring frequent travel, often for extended periods.
  • Candidates should possess both strong installation experience and foundational networking knowledge.
  • This position is not intended for individuals whose background is limited to network administration alone.
