What is a network architect AI?

Network Architect AI professionals are experts who design, build, and maintain computer networks with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize performance, security, and scalability. They leverage AI technologies to automate network management, improve fault detection, and enhance data traffic analysis. These specialists work on both hardware and software components, ensuring that networks can support advanced AI applications and large-scale data processing. Their role is crucial in organizations adopting AI-driven solutions and modernizing their IT infrastructure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a network architect AI?

To thrive as a Network Architect AI, you need deep expertise in network design, cloud infrastructure, and AI integration, usually backed by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with tools like Cisco, Juniper, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), as well as certifications such as CCNP or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help in designing scalable, innovative network solutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams. These skills are crucial to ensure secure, high-performance networks that support modern AI-driven applications and organizational goals.

How does a network architect AI collaborate with data science and IT teams to design scalable, intelligent network infrastructures?

A Network Architect with a focus on AI frequently works alongside data science and IT teams to ensure the network can support advanced AI workloads, such as large-scale data processing and machine learning model deployment. Collaboration often involves understanding the unique data transfer, latency, and security requirements of AI applications and integrating them into the overall network design. Regular meetings and cross-functional planning sessions help align network architecture with the needs of both infrastructure and AI initiatives, making communication and adaptability key skills in this role.

What is the difference between Network Architect Ai vs Network Engineer?

Job description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

We’re seeking a Network Architect to serve as the technical authority for network design, security strategy, and infrastructure standards across Crusoe’s global footprint of data centers, power plants, and corporate environments.

In this role, you will define and govern the architectural vision for Crusoe’s network stack; spanning traditional IT, cloud, and industrial systems (IoT, OT, PLC, SCADA). You’ll ensure our networks are secure, resilient, and scalable while enabling rapid deployment of compute infrastructure aligned with our energy-first model.

This is a high-ownership role with direct influence over platform selection, security posture, and how network infrastructure evolves at scale.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Owning end-to-end network architecture across production and corporate environments, defining standards for IT, cloud, and industrial network domains

  • Designing and enforcing network security strategy, including frameworks, risk assessments, and audit readiness across all sites

  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive architectural documentation including network diagrams, IP schemas, rack elevations, and logical topologies

  • Providing architectural oversight for infrastructure builds, including Bill of Materials (BOM) review, vendor selection, and procurement alignment

  • Driving platform strategy across the network stack, evaluating new technologies and aligning tooling with long-term architectural principles

  • Acting as the highest-level escalation point for complex network issues, identifying root causes and designing durable solutions

  • Partnering cross-functionally with Security, IT Operations, Construction, and Power teams to translate business needs into scalable network designs

  • Establishing governance processes for change control, documentation standards, and architectural consistency across all deployments

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • 8+ years of progressive network engineering experience, including 3+ years in an architecture or principal-level role

  • Demonstrated experience owning network architecture across complex, multi-site environments including data centers, industrial facilities, and corporate networks

  • Deep expertise across network domains including IT, cloud, and industrial networking (IoT, OT, PLC, SCADA)

  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and evolving production networks at scale

  • Strong background in network security frameworks, audits, and compliance initiatives

  • Experience working with vendors, carriers, and procurement teams on infrastructure builds

  • Strong understanding of change management and architectural governance processes

Bonus Points:

  • CCIE certification or equivalent expertise

  • CISSP, GICSP, or other security-focused certifications

  • Experience with high-performance networking for AI/ML or HPC workloads (e.g., RDMA, InfiniBand, low-latency fabrics)

  • Experience supporting infrastructure in energy, industrial, or edge compute environments

  • Background in high-growth or startup environments scaling global infrastructure

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off & paid holidays

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $195,000 - $225,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
