Job Title: Network Administrator
Location: Sterling, VA
Clearance: TS/SCI Poly
**This position is CONTINGENT upon contract award**
The Network Administrator (NA) collaboratively works closely with the leadership, CPM/CPO, FE SRE and Product Team (Platform) to design, engineer, install, operate, and maintain the terrestrial, satellite, and WAN/MAN/LAN networks and communication systems. The CNE works with FEs, SREs and leadership to assist in deployment planning and onboard systems into PWW. They assist with monitoring, system analysis, and IT operations support. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan network configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance
  • Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the Sponsor's engineering review boards for approval prior to the addition of new technologies to the network
  • Perform operational and maintenance activities to include performance testing, network/Cloud troubleshooting and tuning.
  • Utilize array of network monitoring tools/scripts to perform detailed analysis of communications links to identify architecture, provider or environment issues to identify performance problems in the network
  • Troubleshoot to restore network to optimal performance levels
  • Compose technical documents including Design, Deployment, System specifications and system baselines, updates, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. Includes network maps and communications architecture.

Required Skills:
  • Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, slow performance, and security breaches.
  • Operating Systems: Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and their networking configurations.
  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and system management.
  • Security: Knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.
  • Monitoring and Management: Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nagios, SolarWinds) to track network performance and identify potential issues.
