Netsuite Contract information

What is a NetSuite contract?

A NetSuite contract refers to a formal agreement between a business and Oracle NetSuite for the use of its cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. This contract outlines the terms of service, pricing, user licenses, subscription period, and support options. Businesses typically negotiate NetSuite contracts to fit their needs, including specific modules, user counts, and service levels. Understanding the contract terms is important to ensure compliance, manage costs, and plan for renewals or expansions as your business grows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a NetSuite contract professional?

To thrive as a NetSuite Contract professional, you need strong expertise in NetSuite ERP systems, finance or business administration knowledge, and experience with software implementation or customization. Familiarity with SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, and relevant NetSuite certifications are typically required, along with proficiency in project management tools. Excellent problem-solving skills, client communication, and adaptability help professionals stand out in this role. These competencies ensure effective system integration, meet client requirements, and deliver successful project outcomes.

What are some common challenges faced when working on a NetSuite contract, and how can they be managed?

One common challenge for professionals on a NetSuite contract is quickly adapting to different clients' unique system customizations and business processes. Contractors must be able to efficiently assess existing configurations, troubleshoot issues, and communicate technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Building strong relationships with internal teams and end-users is key for understanding their needs and ensuring smooth project delivery. Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks independently are also essential, as contract roles often involve working on multiple projects or modules simultaneously.

About AppDirect

Become a digital, global citizen and enable the new generation of digital entrepreneurs around the world. AppDirect offers a subscription commerce platform to sell any product, through any channel, on any device - as a service. We power millions of subscriptions worldwide for organizations. We do this by our values-driven culture - one that enables you to Be Seen, Be Yourself, and Do Your Best Work.

About You

You are a technically strong revenue accounting professional who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building scalable processes from the ground up. You bring deep expertise in ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and are energized by the challenge of operationalizing new products, markets, and acquisitions in a fast-paced environment. You're equal parts hands-on executor and strategic thinker - comfortable leading the revenue close one day and shaping policy the next. You collaborate naturally across Finance, Legal, Sales, and Operations, and you want your work to directly influence how a rapidly growing global business recognizes and reports revenue.

This role is a foundational member of our international revenue accounting team - an exciting opportunity to make an outsized impact.

What You'll Do and How You'll Have an Impact

  • Perform detailed contract review and analysis for non-standard arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606, and thoroughly document conclusions;
  • Lead and execute revenue-related month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness;
  • Partner with system teams to enhance revenue system utilization (NetSuite ARM), improving process efficiency and revenue accuracy;
  • Identify bottlenecks, manual work, and automation opportunities across the revenue recognition and close process to drive continuous improvement;
  • Collaborate with revenue operations, pricing, and product teams to conduct Standalone Selling Price (SSP) studies;
  • Participate in M&A revenue-related integration to ensure smooth revenue process transitions as needed;
  • Update revenue policies and position papers to reflect evolving business models, new products, and regulatory guidance;
  • Assist with the external audit process and participate in and/or lead ad hoc projects with cross-functional impacts.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred;
  • 6+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience, ideally in SaaS, subscription, or marketplace environments;
  • Strong technical revenue accounting skills, including deep understanding of IFRS 15 / ASC 606 revenue recognition standards;
  • Proficiency in NetSuite ARM (Advanced Revenue Management) system;
  • Experience with M&A revenue integration or purchase accounting is a plus;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of identifying and implementing process improvements;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to communicate complex technical accounting concepts to cross-functional, non-finance stakeholders.
