Job description

Immediate need for a talented Senior Monitoring SRE. This is a 18 Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Pennington, NJ / Charlotte, NC (Hybrid). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.
Job ID:26-17321
Pay Range: $65 - $75/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:

  • Despite the title being "Network Engineer," this is really an Observability and Monitoring-focused SRE position supporting the Event Management platform.
  • The manager is looking for someone who can come in and own monitoring and observability across the environment.
  • The biggest focus areas are Dynatrace, Client, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and Linux monitoring.
  • Candidates should have hands-on experience building dashboards, alerts, health checks, telemetry, and overall platform visibility rather than simply supporting existing monitoring tools.
  • Dynatrace and Client are the two most important skills for this role.
  • The candidate should be comfortable creating dashboards, alerts, searches, log onboarding, dependency mapping, synthetic monitoring, and troubleshooting production issues using both platforms.
  • OpenShift experience is also critical because the Event Management platform runs on Client Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps.
  • Manager would like someone who understands Kubernetes/OpenShift monitoring, including pod health, node health, resource utilization, Prometheus metrics, and Grafana dashboards.
  • The environment includes Client Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps, Netcool OMNIbus, Netcool Impact, Kafka, Linux servers, and Client integrations. Experience with these technologies would be highly preferred and will help candidates stand out, but the core requirement remains strong monitoring and observability expertise.
  • The person will work closely with engineering, operations, SRE, and Client teams to build end-to-end visibility across the platform. They will also be responsible for documenting monitoring standards, creating runbooks, improving operational dashboards, identifying observability gaps, and supporting incident investigations.
  • Arthur mentioned that candidates coming from enterprise-scale monitoring environments with strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, applications, and integrations will be the best fit.
  • Experience with Python, Shell scripting, automation, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Kafka monitoring would be valuable additions.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Strong Dynatrace experience (must-have)
  • Strong Client experience (must-have)
  • OpenShift/Kubernetes monitoring (must-have)
  • Linux monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Observability/SRE background
  • Experience building dashboards, alerts, telemetry, and health checks
  • Client Cloud Pak, Netcool, Kafka, and Client experience preferred
  • Python/Scripting experience is a plus
