Familiarity with marine navigation equipment, sonar, GPS systems, and catch management reporting tools is typically expected. Strong leadership, adaptability, and decisive problem-solving are standout qualities for managing crews and unforeseen challenges at sea. You will typically operate as part of a close-knit team, coordinating closely with crew members to ensure safe and efficient fishing operations.
