Job Summary:
JustPark is a leading partner providing innovative parking solutions for both businesses and consumers. The Lead Software Engineer will oversee the Oobeo and EnforcePlus platforms, leading the engineering team to enhance digital permits, valet management, and on-demand payment systems while integrating AI tools to improve development processes.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and lead the Oobeo engineering team: set priorities, run standups, conduct code reviews, remove blockers, and drive execution against product and business goals
• Mentor and develop engineers on the team, establishing standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and deployment practices
• Own hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the engineering team as it grows
• Collaborate directly with product, client success, and commercial teams to translate customer needs into technical plans and timelines
• Communicate technical status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to non-technical leadership
• Act as the team's power user of Claude Code (and similar tools); model how AI-paired development is done well
• Build out shared AI infrastructure: module-level CLAUDE.md documentation, skills, code review patterns that get the best out of AI
• Bring the rest of the engineering team along on AI-paired development — set the norms, run pairing sessions, propagate what works
• Use AI tooling to accelerate the hardening, testing, and modernization work this role takes on
• Serve as the technical lead for the entire Oobeo platform: the Django monolith (AWS), React frontend, React Native mobile apps (iOS and Android), and GCP serverless applications (EnforcePlus, ShuttleSync)
• Own system architecture decisions, technology stack direction, and development standards
• Support implementation of the Django version upgrade and broader codebase modernizations
• Maintain and improve production stability, performance, and security across all platform components
• Write and review code across the full stack: Python/Django backend, React/TypeScript admin and consumer web applications, and React Native mobile apps
• Build and extend API endpoints using Django REST Framework (serializers, viewsets, OAuth2 token flows)
• Manage PostgreSQL databases: complex schema navigation, query optimization, and migration management
• Maintain and extend payment integrations (Stripe Connect, Authorize.net, Square Mobile Payments SDK) with PCI DSS compliance awareness
• Maintain and extend real-time communication systems (Pusher/WebSockets, Twilio SMS and Voice IVR)
• Manage AWS infrastructure (Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route 53) and Google Cloud Platform resources
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to replace current manual infrastructure management
• Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes across all platform components
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response capabilities
• Manage Docker containerization and deployment workflows
• Own third-party integrations
• Manage Twilio phone number provisioning, webhook configuration, and SMS workflows across customer locations
• Establish and build out automated testing (pytest-django, factory_boy) on a codebase with minimal existing test coverage
• Define and enforce development standards, code review practices, and technical documentation
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• Has demonstrably owned a legacy production codebase end-to-end
• Experience managing or leading a small engineering team: setting priorities, running sprints, conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers
• Comfortable as the most senior engineer on a product: sets standards, makes architectural calls, and builds alongside the team
• Can context-switch between backend, frontend, mobile, infrastructure, and integrations work
• Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
• Python / Django: expert level. Has shipped and maintained Django in production for 5+ years
• Django REST Framework: serializers, viewsets, OAuth2 token flows
• PostgreSQL: complex schema navigation, query optimization, migration management
• React / TypeScript: strong working proficiency
• React Native: working proficiency for the iOS and Android mobile apps (valet attendant app, enforcement officer app)
• Redis: caching and task queue patterns (Celery)
• AWS Elastic Beanstalk: or equivalent AWS deployment experience. Must be able to manage infrastructure configs without existing IaC scaffolding
• Google Cloud Platform: serverless application management
• CI/CD: CloudBees, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent. Has owned a pipeline end to end
• Payment gateway integration: Stripe (Connect, PaymentIntent, webhooks) required. Authorize.net a strong plus
• PCI DSS awareness: understands what compliant payment handling looks like
• Test Driven Development culture & experience
• Docker / containerization
Preferred:
• Experience working in or with PE-backed, high-growth, or startup environments preferred
• Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code experience
• Real-time systems (Pusher, WebSockets, or equivalent)
• Twilio (SMS, Voice IVR)
• Square Mobile Payments SDK
• Bluetooth printer integration (Zebra, ZPL formatting)
• Experience with modern testing practices and hardening code into production-stable systems
• Hospitality or parking tech background
• App Store Connect (iOS) and Google Play Console (Android) deployment experience
• Monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, Sentry, or equivalent)
