Job description

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Developer Intern to support the Digital Marketing and eCommerce Sales functions by developing reporting solutions that drive strategic decision-making and optimize business performance. This role will sit on the Dog & Cat DigiComm (Digital Marketing & eCommerce Sales) Team and will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to transform complex data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate is analytical, technically curious, and passionate about leveraging data to solve business problems. In this role, you will write complex SQL queries, build scalable data models, automate reporting workflows, and create interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. You will also explore AI-powered solutions and develop workflow agents that improve operational efficiency and support day-to-day business activities.
This role is based out of our Neptune City, NJ facility.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and automated reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) across Digital Marketing and eCommerce Sales functions.
  • Build and optimize SQL queries, datasets, and data models to support scalable business reporting and analytics.
  • Aggregate data from multiple platforms and sources into functional, user-friendly dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Develop AI-powered agents and workflow automations to support team productivity, reporting processes, and daily operational tasks.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable business insights.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and data-driven insights related to customer behavior, digital performance, campaign effectiveness, and operational trends.
  • Support ongoing reporting automation initiatives to improve reporting efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Monitor and maintain data quality, integrity, and governance across reporting systems and data sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Digital Marketing, eCommerce, Sales, and IT to understand reporting needs and business objectives.
  • Assist in designing and documenting reporting processes, data definitions, and dashboard best practices.
  • Support ad hoc reporting requests and business analysis projects as needed.
  • Stay informed on emerging analytics, AI, and business intelligence technologies and recommend process improvements where applicable.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
Required Experience: 
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • Experience or familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding of data modeling, reporting structures, and business intelligence concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies and tools
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with scripting/programming languages for data analysis or automation
  • Familiarity with data pipeline concepts
  • Experience or understanding of A/B testing, experimental design, and performance measurement methodologies
  • Exposure to AI tools, automation platforms, or generative AI applications
  • Interest in Digital Marketing, eCommerce analytics, and consumer insights
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms or marketing analytics tools is a plus

Compensation: Interns are compensated on an hourly basis.
