Job description

Job Title: Bartender

Department Name: Nest - Food & Beverage

Reports To: Shift Manager/ Restaurant Manager/ Executive Chef/ General Manager

F/T or P/T: Part time 

Salaried or Hourly: Hourly

Job Summary: Responsible for setup, maintenance and operation of the bar. Takes drink orders from patrons or servers and prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to Nest's recipes. Mixes ingredients for cocktails and serves wine and bottled or draught beer. Rings drink orders into register, collects payment and makes change. Prepares fresh juices, mixes and garnishes for drinks. fills growlers and assists customers in the purchase of beer for course or off-premise consumption.

Ensure complete guest satisfaction from start to finish. Perform all duties necessary before and after breakfast/lunch/dinner service in accordance with Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort's policy's and standards.

Physical Skills: Squatting, bending, kneeling is required. Carrying weight that exceeds 25 lbs with one arm and many duties that require carrying weight of 50 lbs with both arms is required. Scrubbing walls/floors, walking and standing for periods of 6 hours or more per shift is required.

Mental/Visual Skills:

- Good organizational skills

- Good verbal skills

- Ability to use logical and rational thinking to solve problems.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.

- Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.

- Ability to perform moderate physical work, may be required to lift to 50 pounds occasionally, performing activities such as bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping for 6 hours without sitting.

Required Work Habits: Include attendance, team work, initiative, dependability, promptness and trust worthiness.

Required Work Experience: 2 years minimum of previous bartending experience

Required Education: Thorough knowledge of food and Beverage service operational procedures as would normally be acquired through a high school education or equivalent.

Required Certifications/Licenses: SERV Safe Alcohol, TIPS, Certified Beer Server certification preferred but not required

Working Conditions: Work primarily indoors in a bar/lounge/restaurant environment. Exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement hazards, sharp utensils, extremely hot stoves, gills and food items, and dangerous chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.

Job Duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, preparing them efficiently, and building a rapport with clientele
  • Handle card and cash transactions, ensuring that all funds in the cash drawer are accounted for by the end of the shift
  • Keep an eye on patron intoxication levels and respond appropriately
  • Identify belligerent customers, and work with management when needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Clean the bar and the surrounding area of spills and other messes as needed
  • Other duties as requested
