Summary:
Responsible for performing liquid penetrant non-destructive inspection of precision manufactured parts and ensuring that product and services delivered by UCI consistently meet or exceed Customer specified requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine penetrant systems checks.
  • Maintain system and materials logs.
  • Process parts in accordance with approved techniques.
  • Inspect and evaluate parts in accordance with customer specified acceptance criteria.
  • Complete inspection reports identifying and describing non-conforming products.
  • Maintain on-hand material quantity levels.
  • Maintain material certification evidence.
  • Ensure proper equipment calibration is maintained.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), graduate of liquid penetrant inspection NDT school (32 hours minimum formal classroom training), 400 hours minimum hands-on experience, previous experience utilizing Type I, Method A (fluorescent) water wash and / or Type I Method C solvent removable penetrant systems. Familiarity with dimensioning, tolerances, and blueprint reading in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Certificates and Licenses:
Internal certification is required. Previous Level II certification in accordance with NAS-410 and ASNT certification are considered a plus. (ASNT Central Certification Program Level II certification. The ACCPยฎ Level II examinations include General, Specific, Practical, and Instruction Preparation examinations in five NDT methods (MT, PT, RT, UT and VT)).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision of Level I personnel as required to provide guidance on technical issues relating to non-destructive testing only.
Language, Math, and Reasoning Ability:
The employee must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, and have better than average interpersonal skills. Must be able to read and understand technical instructions, drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to accomplish the following mathematically, in all units of measure: add, subtract, multiply, divide, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Inspection personnel shall be vision tested by a licensed qualified medical technician and shall have, as a minimum, the capability of reading Jaeger J-2 or Ortho-Rater 8 letters or better at 12 inches in at least one eye, either natural or corrected.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Needs to be able to distinguish the colors used in the NDT method to be used.
Factory and product manufacturing environment where the noise levels is moderate to loud. Safety glasses are required.
