Responsibilities

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented NDT Technician I to join our Chesapeake team and advance in a dynamic work environment with our Special Projects Group. The NDT Technician I performs non-destructive testing (NDT), inspection, and data collection activities on construction materials under close supervision. This role applies basic testing methods and procedures across a variety of environments while continuing to build technical competency. The NDT Technician I performs field testing, documentation, and reporting while developing experience in accordance with certification requirements and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Performs destructive and non-destructive testing in accordance with written procedures
  • Conducts field observations, inspections, and material testing
  • Documents field activities and prepares daily field reports
  • Performs testing across a variety of environments (industrial, fabrication, remote sites)
  • Selects, calibrates, and uses NDT equipment under supervision
  • Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
  • Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing requirements
  • Maintains organization and readiness of field testing equipment
  • Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
  • Performs calculations, data reduction, and basic reporting tasks
  • Participates in project meetings as required
  • Performs other NDT-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 1 year of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Maintain basic certifications and obtain ASNT CP 9712 or ECS PQC NDE certification to Level II in a method
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Ability to travel extensively, including out-of-town assignments
  • Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments
  • Completion of initial NDT training or experience assisting Level II technicians
  • Exposure to industrial inspection environments
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Dependable, innovative, and detail-oriented
  • Limited but growing knowledge of NDT principles and testing standards
  • Basic understanding of construction and industrial practices
  • Ability to work independently with direction and as part of a team
  • Ability to perform work at heights and in varied environments
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment (~40 lbs)
  • Basic math, data reduction, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and reporting systems
  • Ability to read plans, follow directions, and interpret procedures
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies

The expected pay range for this role and location is $29-$34/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
