Job description

Kelly Services is hiring an NDT Level II Technician for a great opportunity in Hampton, VA. This role supports defense shipbuilding and naval fabrication programs in a quality-focused manufacturing environment.

This is a certified NDT position for someone experienced with Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT). Candidates with Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), or radiographic film interpretation experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Shift: 1st Shift
Pay: $32โ€“$38/hr, based on certifications and experience

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing
  • Perform VT, PT, and MT inspections in accordance with approved procedures, NAVSEA requirements, ASNT/SNT-TC-1A standards, drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Inspect welds, fabricated assemblies, ship structures, and in-process/final components.
  • Interpret inspection results and determine accept/reject disposition based on applicable standards.
  • Set up, calibrate, standardize, and verify NDT equipment and reference standards.
  • Accurately document inspection results, techniques, findings, and dispositions with full traceability.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support audits, investigations, corrective actions, and quality-related NDT activities.
  • Work closely with Quality, NDT Level III personnel, and production teams to support compliance and program requirements.
  • Assist with training or technical guidance for Level I personnel when needed.
This Job May Be a Great Fit If You Have
  • Current NDT Level II certification in VT, PT, and MT.
  • Experience working under ASNT SNT-TC-1A standards.
  • Experience with NAVSEA requirements or defense/shipbuilding inspection standards.
  • Ability to interpret and disposition NDT inspection results.
  • Experience inspecting welds and fabricated components in a shipbuilding, naval, or industrial environment.
  • Strong blueprint, weld symbol, and specification reading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, technical judgment, and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Experience with UT and/or RT, especially radiographic film interpretation, is a plus.
Certification Requirements

Candidates must be able to provide:

  • Copies of current NDT Level II certifications for applicable methods.
  • Documented experience hours by method.
  • Training records that meet employer written practice and ASNT requirements.
  • Accurate and complete certification, training, and experience documentation.
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ability to work in shipbuilding and industrial environments.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Must be able to meet vision requirements per written practice.
  • Ability to lift as required by the position.
Pay Details

Pay is $32โ€“$38/hr, based on certifications, documented experience hours, and method qualifications. Additional compensation may be considered for candidates certified or qualified in UT, RT, or radiographic film interpretation.
