Job description

Our Company:
SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long-term care facilities and assisted living communities. SpecialtyRx takes pride in delivering personalized care and quality pharmacy services.
Position: Medication Receiving Technician.
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM, and every 3rd Saturday.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medication Receiving Technician to join our Long-Term Care Pharmacy team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely receipt of medications and supplies from vendors. The ideal candidate has a strong focus on accuracy, is organized, and can work in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Receive and verify all incoming medication shipments (prescription drugs, OTCs, refrigerated meds, and controlled substances).
  • Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, ensuring accuracy in quantities and NDCs.
  • Inspect all packages for damage, expiration dates, and compliance with storage requirements (e.g., refrigeration).
  • Accurately enter received items into the pharmacy inventory system (e.g., FrameworkLTC, SureCost).
  • Label and shelve medications in appropriate storage areas according to pharmacy layout and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in rotating stock and removing short-dated or expired inventory as part of quality assurance protocols.
  • Handle controlled substances in compliance with DEA, state pharmacy board regulations, and internal protocols.
  • Communicate discrepancies or damaged shipments to the Inventory Lead or Purchasing Department immediately.
  • Collaborate with the packaging, fulfillment, and order entry teams to ensure continuous workflow support.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving and inventory areas.
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory audits as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred or required per state regulations.
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy or inventory receiving experience; LTC or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, NDCs, and receiving documentation.
  • Comfortable using pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
