JOB SUMMARY
The EMS Coordinator establishes, develops, and manages the relationships between the NCH Emergency Departments, and local/regional/state Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies. The EMS Coordinator will work to increase the market share of NCH Services. Reports to the Administrative Director of Emergency Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • - Other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintains professional relationships with EMS services and individual field providers to foster supportive interactions.
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication between EMS partners and NCH programs including Emergency Medicine, Cardiology (STEMI), Pediatrics, and Neurology/Stroke.
  • Solicits feedback from EMS providers to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Provides guided access for EMS providers to NCH leadership to achieve meaningful action on areas of opportunity.
  • Enhances EMS and NCH improvement initiatives by providing patient data and participating in case reviews as needed.
  • Provides reports and statistics concerning EMS trends, develops recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitors real-time patient care between EMS and NCH staff to identify opportunities for improvement. Works with Emergency Services and NCH leadership to develop action plans.
  • Follows trends in EMS used to identify areas for system-wide improvement.
  • Facilitates and participates in EMS-related educational outreach programs, including STEMI and Stroke training.
  • Maintains a process to receive patients quickly and safely from EMS agencies, allowing a short turnaround time for EMS crews.
  • Promotes special care capabilities of the hospital to local EMS providers, examples include: TJC Comprehensive Stroke Facility, STEMI receiving facility.
  • Develop promotional materials and work collaboratively with marketing to promote NCH Services.
  • Serve as an active and visible role in the EMS community by attending meetings and networking functions to promote NCH services.
  • Utilize analytics provided by EMS database to monitor EMS off load times and trends in EMS transportations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of High School/GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in EMS or Paramedic experience required.
  • Valid Licensure as a Florida EMT or Paramedic.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification preferred from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as ability to formally present to both large and small groups
  • Capacity to multi-task and successfully switch priorities when necessary.
  • Willingness to collaborate professionally with organization members and people within the community.
