Project Overview:
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. The site rigging trainer maintains working and active relationship with site training manager to train craft personnel in crane, rigging and signaling operations. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Maintains working and active relationship with project crane and rigging manager to train site specific rigging, bull rigging and lifting operation programs.
  • Support of craft training and qualification programs on the project.
  • Conduct project specific training (Bull Rigging, Crane Operations, Rigging, etc.) as requested by Rigging Manager/Project Trainer Manager.
  • Ensure that the training and assessment programs are consistent with site procedures, guidelines and federal regulations.
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor training classes, facilities, times, participants and instructor evaluations.
  • Provides training to all levels of helpers, journeymen, foreman and general foreman.
  • Administers craft qualification program, including crane and rigging operation skill assessments.
  • Responsible for Craft Competency Compliance to ES&H core processes and SWPP's.
  • Evaluates craft training needs and makes recommendations to the rigging and training management team for consideration of additional program development or project support.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Extensive working knowledge of rigging planning and execution standards and requirements.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in construction engineering in the use of lifting equipment, alternative heavy lifting systems, mobile gantries, jacking, tailing, rigging equipment, and load distribution systems, including an understanding of transport/transfer of equipment, soil mechanics, and structural steel design.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. Knowledge and understanding of environmental, safety and health requirements on heavy-industrial construction projects.
  • Knowledge in the administration and use of subcontracts; ability to interpret and understand contractor/subcontractors' responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Experience in supervising personnel and administering subcontractors preferred.
  • Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • NCCER, NCCCO or equivalent Master Trainer.
  • Project experience a must.
  • Rigging training and testing coordinator experience.
  • Good analytical and strategic planning skills: able to prioritize, balance short and long-term priorities.
  • Good understanding of construction industry.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bechtel Competent Person Rigger Trainer (CPRT).
  • Bechtel Qualified Crane Operator Examiner (QCOE).
  • Bechtel Trainer for JLG/Sky Climber and Forklift qualification programs.
  • Bechtel Rigging Safety Fundamentals Instructor.
  • Bechtel specific Tank Rigging instructor.
  • NCCER/NCCCO or equivalent crane practical Examiner (desired but not required).
