Nature & Purpose of Position
Sam Houston State University (SHSU)is seeking to hire a graduate assistant to assist with oversight of the NCAA Athletic Compliance program in Huntsville, TX.
Responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of SHSU's NCAA Division I Compliance program, including:
• Assisting with the rules education program
• Research NCAA Division I information regarding interpretations
• Compliance software maintenance (i.e. student-athlete forms, recruiting activities, CARA logs, Time Management Plan, complimentary tickets, etc. in ARMS/Teamworks)
• Playing and Practice Season Review
• Roster Review and Management
• Documenting seasons of competition and participation
• Reviewing Social Media
• Name, Image and Likeness monitoring, reporting and education
• Abide by all written policies, procedures and guidelines of SHSU, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations.
• Data entry (must be proficient with Microsoft Office)
• Other duties as assigned
Other Requirements for the Position
The position is for one year with the option of two years. Preferred start date is July-August, 2026.
The candidate must be a self-starter with a desire and willingness to learn NCAA compliance. The position will be designed to provide the candidate with first-hand experience working with NCAA Division I Bylaws and processes, in an environment that is conducive to immersion in day-to-day workings of a Division I school. Integrity; as well as mature, respectful, professional engagement and demeanor with student-athletes and University personnel is a must.
The candidate must also be accepted and enrolled into an accredited graduate or undergraduate program at SHSU.
