Job description

Department:
UCF Athletics
UCF Athletics at the University of Central Florida, an NCAA Division I institution and Big XII Conference member, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director, Strategic Communications.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Strategic Communications department under the direction of the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for women's basketball, volleyball and other sports programs as assigned.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies for assigned sports.
  • Coordinate media relations, travel and gameday communications operations for assigned sports.
  • Promote UCF Athletics through the department's official website and social media platforms, as well as through relationships with local, regional and national media.
  • Ensure all responsibilities are performed in accordance with UCF, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience.
  • Appropriate graduate coursework or master's degree may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Communications or sports information experience at the collegiate level or higher.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite and Genius software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, writing, editing and social media skills.

Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time and occasional travel.
As a staff member of UCF Athletics, the selected candidate will be a person of integrity and character who shares a commitment for customer service and knowing / complying with NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules as they apply to the UCF Athletics program.
