Position Highlights
The University of Arizona's College of Education invites you to apply to the role of Lead Outreach Coordinator, Native American Language Center.
The American Indian Language Development Institute's (AILDI) West Regional Native American Language Center (WRNALRC) is housed in the College of Education at the University of Arizona. The Center's purpose is to: (1) provide support and advocacy for the presence of Native American languages in local, state and regional educational systems; (2) provide training and technical assistance in implementing evidence-based pedagogical strategies, assessments, qualifications and processes for Native American language medium instruction; (3) provide technical assistance to Native American Language Programs seeking other Federal resources; and (4) provide consultation and support in implementing and sustaining effective curriculum and other language work of tribal language programs in the regional service areas of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah and at tribal college institutions in Arizona: Tohono O'odham Community College, San Carlos Apache College, and Diné College. The Center is in Year 4 of the 5-year grant period.
The person in this position will be the primary support staff for the Language Center, the director of the Language Center, and will oversee the post-award activities of grant programming. The position will coordinate communication and facilitate collaboration among the Center Project Team, including the Director, Grant PI, MAP, Advisory Board, Graduate Assistant, and Independent Contractors and key internal and external partners. These partners include the WRNALRC Advisory Board, Office of Indian Education federal funding source, UA/COE fiscal management, AILDI, Tribal college partners, and tribal community programs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee CenterProgram/Project implementation.
  • Lead and develop planning and evaluation meetings withdirector and Project Team.
  • Coordinate workshops to respond to tribal language programneeds.
  • Develop promotion, marketing and recruitment materials perresources for Center workshop schedule.
  • Coordinate guest speaker series, film and conferenceevents to augment Center workshop schedule.
  • Coordinate logistics related to travel and housing optionsfor workshop facilitators, guest speakers, conference presenters.
  • Act as Center liaison for Native community(communication/logistics planning).
  • Facilitate communication and consultation with Nativecommunity to develop workshop content, schedule, materials, and evaluation.
  • Communicate and document center activities including budget management(tracking expenditures and working with the fiscal officer).
  • Coordinate with the COE business office to schedule andpay workshop facilitators and guest speakers.
  • Coordinate supplies & equipment purchases and planningcenter staff travel.
  • Compile Center activity evaluations and reports andmonitor participant/student and other databases.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and university policy guidelines.
  • Prepare, review, and submit accurate financial and progress reports, including federal Annual Performance Reports (APR) and process required documentation for partner payments.
  • Liaison between the Center and the federal Office of Indian Education (OIE), University of Arizona (UA) College of Education (COE) grants management, AILDI, and tribal college partner institutions and communities.
  • Collaborate with and participate in regular meetings of the All Centers, AILDI, and WRNALRC Advisory Board meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of reimbursement processes, university budget processes, contracting workers.
  • Skill in documenting all facets of grant activities for the purpose of preparing the Annual Report.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of reimbursement, budgeting, contracting, and grant requirements to ensure compliance with university and federal Office of Indian Education (OIE) grant guidelines.
  • Skills in strong writing, budgeting, organization, and proficiency in grant management software.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior work in grant administration, project management, or non-profit/public sector operations.
  • Experience with management software to organize and track projects and tasks as well as utilize online graphic design tools (e.g. Canva) to create social media posts, presentations, posters, call for applicants for the Center's workshop, advisory board and symposium.
  • Experience with government grants, including federal Office of Indian Education (OIE) grants.
