What is a naturopathic nurse practitioner?

A Naturopathic Nurse Practitioner is a licensed healthcare professional who combines principles of naturopathic medicine with advanced nursing practice. They focus on holistic, patient-centered care, using natural therapies and conventional medicine to treat and prevent illness. These practitioners emphasize wellness, lifestyle changes, and the body's inherent ability to heal, often integrating nutrition, botanical medicine, and mind-body techniques into care plans. They are qualified to diagnose conditions, prescribe medications (in some states), and develop comprehensive treatment strategies tailored to individual needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a naturopathic nurse practitioner?

To thrive as a Naturopathic Nurse Practitioner, you need a strong background in nursing, holistic health principles, and a relevant advanced degree such as MSN or DNP with additional naturopathic training or certification. Familiarity with integrative health tools, electronic health records, and natural medicine protocols is typically required. Excellent communication, patient education, and empathetic listening skills are vital for building trust and motivating lifestyle changes. These competencies ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care that combines conventional and natural therapies for optimal health outcomes.

How do naturopathic nurse practitioners typically collaborate with other healthcare professionals in integrative settings?

Naturopathic Nurse Practitioners often work as part of multidisciplinary teams in integrative clinics, collaborating closely with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and other specialists. They contribute their expertise in natural therapies while coordinating care plans to ensure patients receive comprehensive treatment. Effective communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to share insights are key to successful collaboration. This environment not only enhances patient outcomes but also provides opportunities for professional growth and learning from diverse medical perspectives.

Job Description

Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) โ€” Integrative & Naturopathic Health
The Sante Center for Natural Healing | Hampton, NH | Full-Time

About The Sante Center

The Sante Center for Natural Healing has spent 40 years helping people live healthier lives through compassionate, personalized, science-based care. Founded by Carolann Kummins, our practice blends naturopathic insight with evidence-based medicine โ€” offering holistic, integrative, functional primary care for patients who want more than a one-size-fits-all approach to their health. We treat the whole person, not just the symptom, integrating ancient diagnostic practices with modern medical testing to uncover the real root of chronic illness.

Our services span IV nutrient therapy, nutritional counseling, colon hydrotherapy, natural medicine, diagnostic and laboratory testing, and integrative protocols for autoimmune disease, Lyme disease, cancer support, and weight management. We're affiliated with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), and the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness (ISEAI).

We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who shares our belief that true healing starts with understanding each patient's unique chemistry, history, and needs.

About the Role

As an NP or PA at Sante, you'll work alongside our founder and clinical team to deliver integrative, patient-centered care โ€” combining conventional diagnostic and prescriptive expertise with naturopathic and functional medicine principles. You'll see patients presenting with complex, chronic conditions who are often seeking answers that traditional primary care hasn't fully provided, and you'll help build individualized care plans that draw on nutrition, detoxification, IV therapy, and natural medicine alongside standard clinical practice.

This is a hands-on, full-time clinical role in a small, close-knit practice where your voice and clinical judgment genuinely shape patient outcomes. This is an opportunity to build your own patient following within an established, mission-driven practice. We're looking for a practitioner who wants more than a job โ€” someone ready to build a lasting patient following and grow into a long-term ownership stake in the practice.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive patient intakes and health histories, with an emphasis on root-cause, whole-person evaluation
  • Order, interpret, and integrate advanced diagnostic and laboratory testing into individualized treatment plans
  • Develop and manage integrative care plans that may include IV nutrient therapy, nutritional counseling, detoxification protocols, and natural medicine alongside conventional interventions
  • Collaborate with our founder and clinical team (including RNs and nutritional counselors) to coordinate multi-modal treatment
  • Support patients managing autoimmune disease, Lyme disease, cancer-adjacent care, chronic illness, and weight management
  • Educate and empower patients to take an active role in their own healing process
  • Maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation in accordance with NH state licensure and scope-of-practice requirements
  • Stay current on functional and integrative medicine research, protocols, and best practices

What We're Looking For

  • Active NH state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), with prescriptive authority
  • Prior experience or strong personal interest in naturopathic, functional, or integrative medicine (formal training or certification in functional medicine, e.g., through IFM, is a plus but not required)
  • Comfort working with chronic, complex cases that fall outside conventional treatment algorithms
  • Genuine belief in a whole-person, root-cause approach to health โ€” this isn't a fit for someone looking for a purely conventional, symptom-management practice style
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, patient-first mindset
  • Comfort with (or willingness to learn) IV therapy protocols and integrative diagnostic interpretation
  • Prior experience in a small practice or concierge-style setting is a plus

Why Join Sante

  • Be part of a practice built on genuine belief in individualized, natural healing โ€” not a volume-driven model
  • Work directly with a founder and team who are deeply experienced in blending naturopathic and conventional care
  • Opportunity to grow your integrative medicine skill set in a supportive, mentorship-rich environment
  • Make a meaningful, visible impact on patients who are actively seeking a different path to health
  • Opportunity to build and grow your own patient following within a supportive, established practice
  • Long-term potential for practice ownership or partnership for the right fit
