Job Description:

The Site Tour Guide is responsible for delivering safe, accurate, and engaging tours of the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine (CC&V) for visitors, community members, students, and special groups. This role plays a key part in CC&V's commitment to transparency, community engagement, and education by showcasing the history, operations, and environmental stewardship of the mine. Tour Guides provide exceptional visitor experiences, communicate complex mining concepts in accessible ways, and ensure all tours follow site safety requirements and CC&V protocols.

Day to Day:

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Tour Delivery & Visitor Engagement

  • Lead scheduled guided tours of CC&V's historic and active mining areas, ensuring content is accurate, clear, and engaging.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and act as an ambassador for CC&V and SSR Mining.

  • Tailor explanations to audience type (general public, students, VIPs, industry visitors).

  • Answer visitor questions confidently and professionally.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all visitors understand and follow CC&V safety rules, PPE requirements, and tour protocols.

  • Conduct pre-tour safety briefings and monitor visitor compliance throughout each tour.

  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or unusual situations immediately.

Logistics & Operations

  • Support tour scheduling, check-in, and coordination of visitor PPE and transportation.

  • Operate company vehicles or tour shuttles safely and responsibly (training provided).

  • Assist with upkeep of tour materials, signage, and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate visitor counts and submit tour reports as required.

Content Expertise & Communication

  • Learn and retain essential knowledge about:

    • CC&V's mining operations

    • Site history and local cultural heritage

    • Reclamation and environmental stewardship

    • Safety culture

    • Community initiatives

  • Present information factually and consistently with CC&V-approved messaging.

Is This You??

  • Strong public speaking and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with the Cripple Creek & Victor region or regional history.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience in tourism, education, guiding, interpretation, or customer-facing work preferred.

  • Interest in mining, geology, history, or environmental science preferred.

Working Conditions & Environment:

  • This is an in-person position based in Victor, Colorado.

  • The schedule for this role is full-time during the tour season (May-October) with the ability to alter work schedule when required.

  • Must be able to work at high altitude.

  • Must hold a valid vehicle driver's license.

For applicants residing in CO, the hourly range for this role is $18.40/hr. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
