Job description

Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Engineer

We're looking for a Senior/Principal Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Engineer (Operations and Maintenance) on behalf of our client. This is an 8-months contract assignment (W-2). You would be a Senior or a Principal RNG Engineer to support our growing fleet of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) facilities. This role is designed for an experienced, operations-focused engineer who understands RNG plant systems inside and out and can serve as an important technical leader across operations, maintenance, and project support. You will be a trusted partner to Operations Managers, driving plant reliability, maintenance strategy, and across multiple sites. Site operations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and project activities expect up to 40% travel support. Location: Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 An important responsibility of your work will involve leading the transition of new and existing plants from construction and commissioning into integrated, steady-state operations. Employees in this role lead and execute complex engineering and operational projects across RNG and LFGTE facilities. This includes providing technical leadership, supporting maintenance and reliability programs, and ensuring successful transition of assets into long-term operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor plant systems and gas collection networks to increase gas yield, quality, and uptime
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for operational and equipment issues
  • Identify operational improvements to enhance plant reliability and production
  • Lead development and optimization of preventative and corrective maintenance programs across RNG assets
  • Use and enhance Maximo (CMMS) for asset management, work order execution, and maintenance planning
  • Partner with site teams to improve maintenance execution, outage planning, and long-term asset reliability
  • Lead the transition of RNG facilities from construction/commissioning into full operations ("readiness to operations")
  • Support commissioning, startup, and performance validation to ensure a smooth transition to steady-state operations
  • Promote best practices across RNG and LFGTE operations
  • Support onboarding of new assets, including development of operational and maintenance procedures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related) from an ABET-accredited program
  • Senior Level: 5+ years or Principal Level: 8+ years in RNG, LFGTE, power generation, or similar industrial/process environments
  • Expertise in plant operations, maintenance practices, and industrial equipment systems
  • Experience with CMMS platforms (preferably Maximo) and maintenance program management
  • Direct experience with RNG or landfill gas operations
  • Experience leading maintenance, reliability, or outage programs
  • Familiarity with compressors, gas treatment systems, flares, and related equipment
  • Experience supporting commissioning and startup of industrial facilities
  • Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience
