Job description

Compressor Technician

Full-Time

A client of ours is seeking an experienced Compressor Technician to support compression and process equipment throughout oil & gas facilities in Texas. This is a hands-on field position focused on keeping natural gas equipment operating safely and reliably.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, service, and repair natural gas compressors and rotating equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment overhauls
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control issues
  • Assist with compressor installations, start-ups, commissioning, and equipment upgrades
  • Work with gas handling systems, piping, valves, instrumentation, and related process equipment
  • Read P&IDs, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Complete service documentation and communicate equipment conditions to customers and internal teams
  • Follow LOTO, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Travel to customer locations throughout the assigned territory
Qualifications
  • Previous natural gas compressor or oil & gas field service experience
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with compressors, engines, rotating equipment, or gas processing equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical and control systems
  • Comfortable reading P&IDs and equipment schematics
  • Experience with VRUs, vapor combustion equipment, flares, or similar process equipment is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work in outdoor field environments
  • Technical or mechanical training is preferred
