Summary:

The Utility Technician is responsible for inspecting, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility utility systems and related equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This position performs routine and emergency maintenance on steam generators, cooling towers, air handling units, generators, air compression systems, electrical distribution systems, and other auxiliary equipment. The Utility Technician helps ensure proper equipment performance, supports preventive maintenance activities, maintains accurate records within the CMMS, and partners with Maintenance leadership to optimize utility system reliability and minimize operational downtime.

Your primary activities will include but are not limited to:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and components in power generation and facility utility equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on steam generators, cooling towers, air handling units, generators, air compression systems, and other auxiliary systems.
  • Operate and monitor control systems, including the company building management system, to ensure proper equipment function and system performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment status through the company CMMS.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance leadership to plan maintenance schedules, support preventive maintenance activities, and optimize equipment performance.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts and assist with the installation of new equipment, components, and utility system improvements.
  • Perform emergency repairs to address equipment failures promptly and minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Fabricate special tools, rigging, and replacement parts as needed to support maintenance activities and equipment repairs.
  • Monitor electrical distribution systems and report equipment concerns, abnormal conditions, or safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, equipment documentation, and maintenance procedures to complete assigned work safely and effectively.
  • Comply with all applicable safety, GMP, quality, and company policies and procedures.

You’ll need the following (minimum qualifications):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, utilities, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery, utility systems, powerhouse systems, or power generation equipment.
