Job description

About Carvana

At Carvana, we're changing the way people buy and sell cars. With an ambitious vision and a fundamentally different approach designed to be fun, fast, and fair, Carvana became the fastest-growing automotive retailer in history. We expanded nationally, went public on the New York Stock Exchange, sold our 1 millionth car, and reached the Fortune 500, all in just eight years.

Today, with 4 million retail customers and counting, Carvana is both the fastest-growing and the most profitable public automotive retailer, and we're just getting started. We continue to raise the bar for our customers as we tackle the enormous opportunity still ahead in the largest consumer vertical.

Working here means being part of a team that embraces change, celebrates creative problem solving, and always strives to be better. At Carvana, you'll have the opportunity to take on meaningful challenges, learn quickly, and help shape the future of automotive retail. If you're driven to grow and make an impact as part of a collaborative team, you'll fit right in. Learn more about what it's like to work here from the people that already do.

About the team and position

We're looking for a Vendor Manager to join Carvana's Inventory Procurement team and help acquire the goods and services that keep our vehicle reconditioning operations running seamlessly - from software and equipment to parts and labor. In this role, you'll own all vendor engagements end-to-end for an assigned group of suppliers, including sourcing, contracting, performance management, and stakeholder alignment; serving as the trusted bridge between our operations teams and the vendors that support them. Vendor group assignments are based on business needs and may evolve as the team grows. Up to 25% travel may be required.

This is a fully on-site position, Monday through Friday, at our corporate HQ in Tempe, Arizona.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning the vendor lifecycle for your assigned supplier group end-to-end - from onboarding through contract compliance, performance reviews, and renewals.
  • Designing and conducting sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ), leading both new contract and renewal negotiations on pricing, terms, and service levels and executing upon the contract lifecycle (MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, SLAs) in partnership with Legal.
  • Running a vendor performance management program that uses scorecards, business reviews, and SLA tracking to hold all parties accountable to their commitments; driving challenging conversations early when performance slips and facilitating resolution with affected stakeholders.
  • Keeping teams proactively aligned on deliverables, expectations, and changes, so that requesters, operations, and leadership stay informed and confident in outcomes.
  • Analyzing vendor performance and spend data to uncover root causes and quantify savings and value delivered; partnering with FP&A to keep budgets accurately reflecting your vendor group's costs.
  • Keeping stakeholders and vendors proactively aligned on deliverables, performance expectations, and changes in order for requesters, operations, and leadership to be informed and confident in outcomes.
  • Continuously improving how we work: whether it is the process of maintaining pricing in Carvana systems, automating invoicing and payment processes where possible, or standardizing recurring vendor management processes to gain efficiencies.
  • Contributing to a team environment that inspires positive communication, cohesion, and adherence to Carvana's Values.

What you should have/know

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience within finance/procurement organization at mid to large-sized companies with high transaction volumes).
  • At least 2 years of experience in Procurement: Sourcing, and/or Procure-to-Pay.
  • Experience with Coupa, leading ERP systems, and/or dedicated e-procurement platforms.
  • Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to organize workload efficiency to manage multiple initiatives and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in SQL, MS Excel, and ERP systems.

Don't Meet 100% of the Qualifications?

At Carvana, we value diverse backgrounds and experiences. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't fit every single bullet point. Give it a shot-we'd love to hear from you!

What we'll offer in return

  • Full-Time salary position with a competitive salary [and Carvana stock compensation].
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits.
  • 401K with company match.
  • A multitude of perks including student loan payments, discounts on vehicles, benefits for your pets, and much more.
  • A great wellness program to keep you healthy and happy both physically and mentally.
  • Access to opportunities to expand your skill set and share your knowledge with others across the organization.
  • A company culture focused on high performance and bar-raising, with vast opportunity to learn and grow.

Other requirements

To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Of course, we'll make any reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs.

About Carvana

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

At Carvana, we sell cars, but we're not salespeople. Since 2013, we've been making it our mission to change the way people buy cars. We saw a huge problem with how much it can suck to buy a car the traditional way, so we committed ourselves to tackling one of the largest, yet-to-be-disrupted markets in the world - the $1T per year U.S. car market (yes, that's $Trillion with a "T").
