Job description

HD Fowler Company is looking for a full-time Sales Director - Waterworks. This is a leadership position with direct oversight of outside sales staff in our Great Salt Lake Region. As a Sales Director, you will assist and develop your team to meet territory and regional sales goals, coordinate planning and support with operations management, oversee compliance with company policies, and implement sales initiatives at territory and regional levels. Primary branch location will be Spanish Fork, UT. Start date is negotiable.
Sales directors travel frequently to build and maintain knowledge of their markets so that they can quickly recognize and adapt to opportunities and changing conditions. Directors are expected to improve the current productivity of their region as well to identify and develop resources that will provide growth in the future. An effective director will have industry and regional knowledge as well as the sales, management, and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with salespeople, customers, vendors, operations, and senior management.
What you will do:
  • Direct supervision of the Great Salt Lake Waterworks Sales Team. This includes compensation reviews, PTO management, setting goals and developing strategies for sales success.
  • Identify and assess salesperson skillsets, territory performance, sales obstacles, and opportunities for sales growth
  • Regularly travel throughout the region. Develop strong relationships with salespeople and customers, stay abreast of work, and understand competitor performance and market share in each locale.
  • Some overnight travel (20-35%), flexible working hours including evenings and some weekends; will be required to live in Great Salt Lake Region.
  • Complete timely, thorough, and thoughtful evaluations for direct reports.
  • Accept and enforce accountability for sales staff performance and behavior in alignment with Company culture and management practices.
  • Work to increase market share and profitability in each territory, meeting established objectives and goals.
  • Help develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans throughout assigned region; work to monitor them and adjust as appropriate.
  • Establish and develop vendor relationships and strategies in the region, as well as support Company-wide initiatives.
  • Set budgets and manage financial resources consistent with corporate directives and philosophies.
  • Maintain strong relationships and open communication with operations management and hold the same expectations for direct reports.

Who we are looking for:
  • All applicants must be willing to work out of the designated location as their primary office.
  • At least 3 years of sales and/or management experience in the Company or with a direct competitor (specific industry experience is required). Internal Company candidates are preferred.
  • A proven track record of successful sales performance, customer and vendor relations, and a strong understanding of sales strategies and skillsets.
  • Evidence that the candidate has built a high level of trust and accountability with bosses and direct reports; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse group.
  • Strong product and technical expertise preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience using technology and software to facilitate successful completion of responsibilities.
  • Presentation and public speaking skills are a must.
  • College education beneficial.
