Job Overview

Moon Fabricating Corp is seeking an experienced Lead Rubber Lining Technician to join our Field Operations team in Kokomo, IN. This is a hands-on lead position responsible for performing rubber lining and corrosion-protection work while helping guide other technicians in the field.


You will work on industrial equipment such as storage tanks, process vessels, water treatment equipment, and chemical processing systems, preparing surfaces and installing protective rubber linings designed to withstand demanding industrial environments.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical or industrial experience, understands proper surface preparation and lining procedures, and is comfortable taking the lead on jobs while working alongside the crew.


What You'll Do

  • Lead and work alongside field crews performing rubber lining and corrosion-protection projects.
  • Prepare steel and metal surfaces using sandblasting and other surface-preparation methods.
  • Apply adhesives and bonding materials according to required specifications.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and apply rubber lining materials to tanks, vessels, piping, and other industrial equipment.
  • Ensure rubber materials are properly fitted, bonded, rolled, and sealed.
  • Perform spark testing and visual inspections to verify lining integrity and identify defects.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company standards and project specifications.
  • Help assign daily tasks and keep field crews organized and productive.
  • Train and mentor technicians on proper surface preparation, lining installation, testing, and safety procedures.
  • Identify installation or material issues and help determine appropriate corrections.
  • Work safely inside tanks, vessels, and other confined spaces.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas throughout each project.
  • Communicate project progress, material needs, quality concerns, and field issues to management.
  • Follow and reinforce all company, customer, and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Travel to customer locations and field projects as required.


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of mechanical, industrial, rubber lining, coating, or related field experience.
  • Previous experience leading, training, or directing other employees in an industrial or field environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work from project specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and install materials.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and industrial environments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field projects as required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to the Kokomo facility and field locations.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with industrial rubber lining installation.
  • Experience with sandblasting and proper substrate preparation.
  • Experience with industrial coatings, tank lining, vessel lining, or corrosion-control systems.
  • Knowledge of adhesives, rubber stock, lining repair, and spark testing.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Rubber Lining Technician, Lining Lead, Industrial Coatings Lead, or Field Crew Lead.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
