Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Permitting to join our Project Delivery team. In this role, you will lead the successful execution of high-profile and complex permitting projects across the country while collaborating with clients, municipal agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.


The Senior Project Manager serves as a senior-level project leader responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects, providing strategic guidance to clients, and supporting the development of project team members. This role combines hands-on project execution with leadership responsibilities, helping drive operational excellence and best-in-class service standards across the organization.


What You'll Do

  • Manage the full lifecycle of permit-related projects, from initial filing through permit issuance, certificate of occupancy, and project completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring proactive communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with clients, plans examiners, municipal agencies, consultants, and internal teams to advance project objectives.
  • Oversee project deliverables, including entitlements, schedules, timelines, approvals, and risk management.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential obstacles, and implement solutions to maintain project momentum and successful outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, project requirements, and quality standards.
  • Prepare project reports, documentation, status updates, and milestone summaries for leadership and clients.
  • Track project performance and maintain accurate project data within company systems.
  • Resolve project challenges with professionalism, urgency, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Contribute to productivity goals, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Mentor and support Project Managers and other project team members through coaching, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with leadership to support strategic initiatives and drive successful project outcomes.

What You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in project management, permitting, construction management, architecture, municipal compliance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and multiple concurrent project timelines.
  • Strong project leadership, client relationship management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience collaborating with internal and external project teams, with the ability to motivate, delegate, and drive accountability across multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of permitting workflows, municipal codes, and regulatory approval processes.
  • Experience managing complex permitting projects and coordinating with municipal agencies.
  • Experience supporting multi-state or national project portfolios.
  • PMP certification or other relevant project management credentials.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • This position is based in New York City with a hybrid schedule.
  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, project site visits, and municipal agency interactions.
