Full-Charge Bookkeeper

National Petroleum Distributors (Nat Petro)

Our company is currently seeking ​a Full Charge Bookkeeper to support financial operations across multiple business entities. Nat Petro is a fuel jobber supplying wholesale petroleum across the US with more growth on the horizon. That growth is fueling our need for someone that can help meet the requirements of a fast-growing business operating in multiple states. This position is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial recordkeeping, and administrative support. The ideal candidate has strong QuickBooks Desktop experience and is capable of supporting tax and CPA reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform regular bank account, credit card, and merchant-processing reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for payroll, payroll taxes, employee advances, prepaid expenses, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, A/R aging, A/P aging, and cash-flow reports.
  • Manage intercompany billing and reconciliations between related entities.
  • Organize documentation for tax filings, insurance audits, Workers’ Compensation audits, and financial reviews.
  • Work with the external CPA on monthly and quarterly close, reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, depreciation entries, and annual tax preparation.
  • Assist leadership with bookkeeping-related reporting and other accounting needs.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Full-Charge Bookkeeper, or Accounting Specialist.
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping principles and GAAP-based accounting practices.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Strong experience with bank and credit-card reconciliations.
  • Ability to prepare and understand journal entries, including payroll, tax, accrual, and adjustment entries.
  • Comfortable working with external CPAs and preparing supporting documents for audits, financial reviews, and tax filings.
  • Experience with distribution, wholesale, inventory, logistics, transportation, or multi-entity businesses is preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
