Job description

Inventory Specialist
Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist willto support our Government customers supply chain operations across VA locations. This role is responsible for the movement, receipt, staging, storage, and organization of supplies to ensure efficient, compliant, and accurate inventory flow.Inventory Specialists play a vital role in maintaining operational readiness by supporting timely receiving, proper storage practices, and accurate distribution in alignment with VA procedures.
Functions and Responsibilities
  • Receive, unload, and move incoming supplies and materials using Government-furnished equipment (e.g., carts, pallet jacks, bins, scanners) when authorized.
  • Break down pallets and prepare materials for storage or distribution.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation.
  • Identify and report visible damage, discrepancies in quantities, or documentation inconsistencies.
  • Stage supplies for storage and distribution to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant storage areas in accordance with Government standards.
  • Support accurate inventory tracking and supply flow across VASDHS locations.
  • Utilize inventory management systems and Microsoft Office tools to document and track inventory activities.
  • Follow all established safety, OSHA, and HAZMAT handling procedures.

Education and Experience
Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in supply, warehouse, or inventory management.
  • Proficiency and fluency in the English language (written and verbal).
  • Experience with inventory management systems and general warehouse workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to follow structured processes and comply with Government and PWS requirements.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting Federal or Government logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning systems and warehouse automation tools.
  • Experience working in healthcare or high-volume distribution environments.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability tolift upto 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push up to 100 lbs. using carts or similar conveyance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability tooperatematerial handling equipment, as applicable.

Compliance Requirements
  • Mustcomply withall safety and HAZMAT handling requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain andmaintainrequired Governmentsystemaccess and training.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet contract-specific requirements, as applicable.

$21.56 - $24.79 per hour
