We are looking for a full-time, experienced and self-motivated National Accounts Manager, The Home Depot Team to join our Sales department Team to support sales and account management functions for all categories sold through The Home Depot. This position is based out of Smyrna, GA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans for assigned customers and prospects to meet corporate goals.
  • Assume responsibility for overall profitability of assigned accounts to ensure targeted and acceptable level of profitability.
  • Oversee the maintenance of customer SKU files and pricing schedules.
  • Advice assigned accounts concerning sales and advertising opportunities. Develop and present annual promotional schedules if applicable.
  • Analyze sales performance to assist customers in maximizing sales and profitability. This includes eliminating unprofitable items from their product mix.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to assigned customers and prospects.
  • Expand product categories with existing customers as warranted to increase Hampton’s sales and profitability position with each customer.
  • Meet with key clients to maintain relationships and negotiate programs. Understand customers’ internal processes.
  • Work directly with all functional areas internally to ensure communication and to develop cross function activity within both the customer’s and HPI’s organizations.
  • Stay abreast of technical product knowledge to assist customers by explaining product’s features and benefits as needed.
  • Work with HPI’s Finance department to assist in preparing annual sales forecasts and provide information internally to assist in developing purchasing planning.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
  • Prepare for and attend customer trade shows as necessary.
  • Must be comfortable visiting and understanding customer’s operation at retail level.
  • Actively increase industry knowledge including customers’ and own competition.
  • Regular interaction with THD Merchants, field teams, and internal cross functional partners.


The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in business, or related field from a four-year college or university; no less than five years related progressive experience managing accounts with big box retailers;
  • Master at creating partnerships with external customers with strong leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of the Big Box retail industry.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate efforts.
  • Knowledge of THD corporate structure, systems, and in store execution model.
  • Experience supporting line reviews, assortments, resets, or large retail programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Highly Organized with strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • Strong experience with door hardware and/or screen and Storm door products is preferred.
