Job description

QUALIFICATIONS: Enrollment in, or completion of all required coursework except the internship, in a state-approved School Psychology graduate program. Eligibility for a School Psychologist Intern credential, permit, or authorization as required by state of employment, and ability to maintain eligibility for the duration of the internship.

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exemptย 

PURPOSE: The School Psychologist Intern provides supervised school psychological services consistent with the NASP Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services. The intern supports students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral functioning through data-based decision making, consultation, assessment, and intervention. All services are provided under direct supervision of a credentialed and/or licensed School Psychologist and in compliance with state law, district policies, NASP ethical standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. This position is a training role and does not permit independent practice.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under appropriate supervision and consistent with training level, the School Psychologist Intern performs the following duties aligned with NASP Domains of Practice:

  1. Conduct psycho-educational assessments using valid, reliable, and culturally responsive assessment tools.
  2. Collect, analyze, and interpret academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data.
  3. Assist multidisciplinary teams in determining eligibility for special education and related services.
  4. Consult with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams regarding student needs.
  5. Participate in IEP meetings, problem-solving teams, and student support meetings.
  6. Communicate assessment findings and recommendations clearly and professionally.
  7. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic and behavioral interventions.
  8. Provide counseling and behavioral supports within the scope of training and supervision.
  9. Support implementation of MTSS, PBIS, and other evidence-based intervention frameworks.
  10. Support positive school climate initiatives and prevention-focused practices.
  11. Assist with crisis prevention, intervention, and recovery activities as directed and supervised.
  12. Collaborate with families in culturally responsive and respectful ways.
  13. Demonstrate awareness of cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and individual factors affectingย student performance.
  14. Adhere to the NASP Principles for Professional Ethics.
  15. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policies.
  16. Participate in required supervision, professional development, and internship-related activities.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with training level, supervision, and applicable law.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 182 Days. Salary to be established by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities include prolonged physical tasks such as stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, pushing, twisting, lifting, and carrying. The role involves moving equipment, furniture, materials, and occasionally performing lifting of 20 pounds or more. Additional tasks include sitting on the floor and reaching overhead. Essential sensory abilities include close vision for reading, distance and peripheral vision, focusย adjustment, and hearing speech in various environments, including classrooms, outdoors, and over the phone. Clear, audible speech is required for effective communication.

The work environment noise level ranges from moderate to loud. Tasks are primarily indoors, with some outdoor activities.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary: ย $33.84/Hour
  • Schedule: 5 Days/Week, 7.5 Hours/Day with an unpaid 30-minute lunch (Hours capped at 35 per week
    except with approval of a building or District administrator)
  • Temporary Position: This position is an at-will, temporary position for the 2026-2027 school year only
    (182 days, following the Teacher Calendar). This position is subject to the terms of the School Psychology
    Internship Agreement between the Board of Education of Lake Villa CCSD 41 and the Intern's university.

  • Health Insurance Information:ย You may participate in the District health insurance at your own expense
    (no Board contribution to premiums). Health Insurance premium information will be available at a later
    date. The position is ineligible for any other insurance benefits.
