Job description

BB&E is an employee-owned full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a detail-oriented a Project Coordinator, who will also serve as the Deputy Program Manager to support our NASA Environmental Support Services (NESS) contract on site at Johnson Space Center located in Houston, TX. The Project Coordinator should have a general understanding of Environmental Compliance programs in support of NASA and/or Federal installations and be capable of working directly with NASA civil servants. The Project Coordinator will be on-site and assist the on-site Program Manager managing sub-contractors, including invoices and monitoring contracts.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Program Manager all duties.
  • Assist the Program Manager with managing all project elements including NESS staff, internal project teams, multiple subcontractors, vendors, and relationships with NASA and regulatory personnel in accordance with PWS requirements and BB&E standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with organizing and executing project work including the appropriate delegation.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expert skill sets to support private and government sectors.
  • Display and demonstrate company business acumen (including successful management of execution, schedule, budget, quality and compliance) and exemplary work approaches (client service orientation; strong interpersonal skills including clear communications and respect for others.
  • Provide overall management and administrative functions to ensure that the team are available, and resources allocated and that the PWS tasks and deliverables meet performance requirements. Assist the Program Manager ensuring that all labor, services, and materials necessary for program management, business management and associated services to meet the PWS are successfully delivered.
  • Assist with process the payments of Permits/Fees related to the work on this contract.
  • Utilize NASA furnished databases or other NASA-authorized software.
  • Assist with completing and delivering a monthly technical report covering all CLINs on the contract no later than five business days after the end of the month

Key Qualifications

Strong Communication Skills:ย Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Software:ย Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint isย required.

Self-Starter:ย Highly motivated, with the ability to solve problems and function as a member of a team.

Experience & Education

oย ย Experience:ย A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in environmental compliance programs in support of a federal installation or NASA Centerย is required.

oย ย Education:ย A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Earth Science or other related science field, or a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering.ย 

Physical Requirements

oย  Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods for multiple days/weeks

oย  Able to operate office equipment, including computers, copy machine, phone, etc.

o Capable of light lifting, up to 50 lbs.

oย  Working conditions:

oย ย  Able to work both indoors/outdoor (with exposure to the elements)

oย ย  Able to walk/climb/knee/crouch and reach

oย ย  Able to work on rough terrain when necessary

oย ย  Able to work in confined spaces and/or heights

oย ย  Able to wear the required PPE, minimally wear gloves, a hard hat, a respirator, and steel-toe boots that may be in combination with protective clothing/suits, a respirator, and/or a fall restraint/recovery harness
