Job description

Adjunct Faculty - Department of Geology
Job no: 501777
Work type: Temporary Part-Time
Location: Glassboro, New Jersey

The Department of Geology within the School of Earth and Environment and College of Science and Mathematics seeks qualified candidates to teach 100-level introductory and gateway geology courses including Physical Geology, Earth Through Time, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, and Dinosaurs and Their World.
Applicants must have at least an MS or higher degree in Geology or related science and a Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field.
Rowan University is a Carnegie-classified Doctoral University (Moderate Research Activity) with approximately 25,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia. Philadelphia International Airport is 30 minutes away, and New York and Washington, DC are easily accessible by train from 30th Street Station. The Jean & Ric Edelman Fossil Park (www.rowan.edu/fossils), located only 4 miles from campus, is closely associated with the School of Earth & Environment and provides unique teaching resources to faculty members and students. Rowan's main campus is located on the Atlantic Coastal Plain, which exposes Holocene through Cretaceous outcrops, including a K/Pg section at the quarry. The Piedmont and Appalachian provinces are 20 minutes and 1 hour away, respectively. The Atlantic coast and the Delaware Bay estuary are within an hour's drive.

Please note: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor a visa for this position.
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, and in accordance with the current MOA, Rowan University adjuncts are provided with a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year. Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.
