Job description

Overview

The Quality Department Assistant Manager will work with the Quality Manager to understand and maintain the conformance processes involving aluminum casting, extrusion and related processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in the technical requirements of the quality lab, including equipment optimization,
  • Responsible for management of calibrations as needed
  • Provides support to Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians as needed
  • Oversee the technical requirements of the age ovens (precipitation and homogenization)
  • Supports internal and external quality audits as prescribed by the Quality Systems Engineer,
  • Participates with and administers scrap, cost reduction and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for directing and supervising a group of employees involved in inspection and quality control procedures regarding purchased material, in-process material and finished products to ensure that quality control standards are achieved
  • Communicates safety, quality and productivity concerns and patterns to personnel
  • Participates in special projects affecting product quality: both in-process and finished products
  • Performs other required tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the materials processing industry
  • Must have the capability to understand quality process parameters
  • Established experience, 1-2 years, working as quality technician, supervisor or other position in an ISO certified manufacturing environment.
  • Must have self-motivation, ability to work independently as well as in coordination with other departments
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and familiar with statistical software
  • Previous use of calipers, micrometers, tape measure
  • Proven problem-solving skills, creating solutions to challenges in an expedient manner
  • Possess diligent work ethic, and high level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Able to work in hot/cold, noisy industrial environment
