Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Suppression Installer / Service Technician to join our growing Fire Suppression team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a variety of fire suppression systems, including portable fire extinguishers, kitchen hood suppression systems, clean agent systems, and other specialized fire protection equipment. You will work directly with customers to ensure systems are operating safely, compliantly, and effectively while delivering exceptional service and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, Inspection & Service
  • Install, inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of fire suppression systems, including:
    • Portable Fire Extinguishers
    • Kitchen Hood Suppression Systems
    • Clean Agent Suppression Systems
    • Gas Suppression Systems
  • Service and install equipment from multiple manufacturers, including Simplex and ANSUL systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, schematics, submittals, operational manuals, and system programming documentation.
  • Perform routine and complex service tasks independently or assist senior technicians with larger projects.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and verify proper operation of suppression system products.

Customer Service & Documentation
  • Manage daily service calls and customer interactions professionally and efficiently.
  • Accurately identify, document, and communicate system deficiencies discovered during inspections.
  • Provide recommendations based on manufacturer specifications and applicable local, state, and national fire protection codes.
  • Complete Fire Protection Deficiency Reports and communicate required repairs or upgrade opportunities to customers.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection forms, and required documentation.
  • Professionally represent the company at customer sites at all times.

Inventory, Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain appropriate vehicle stock levels, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including DOT-required safety practices and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Attend required training sessions, certifications, meetings, and continuing education programs.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying potential sales opportunities and surveying target accounts for follow-up.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with gas suppression systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely and consistently follow established safety procedures.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred
  • NICET Level II Certification in Fire Suppression Systems.
  • NAFED Suppression Certification.
  • Experience servicing clean agent suppression systems.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and fire protection industry standards.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in commercial, industrial, and customer facility environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work overhead, and perform physical service-related tasks.
  • Ability to travel locally to customer sites as needed.
