What is a NACE inspector?

NACE Inspectors are certified professionals who inspect and evaluate protective coatings on structures such as pipelines, tanks, and bridges to ensure they meet industry standards for corrosion control. They are trained by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (formerly known as NACE International) to identify coating defects, oversee surface preparation, and verify that coatings are applied correctly. Their role is crucial in preventing corrosion, extending the life of assets, and maintaining safety and compliance in industries like oil and gas, marine, and infrastructure.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a NACE inspector?

To thrive as a NACE Inspector, you need a deep understanding of corrosion control, coating application, and inspection techniques, generally supported by NACE certification (such as NACE CIP Level 1, 2, or 3). Familiarity with inspection tools like holiday detectors, thickness gauges, and reporting software is critical. Attention to detail, strong observational skills, and effective communication distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure accurate inspections and reporting, which are vital for maintaining asset integrity and safety in industrial environments.

What are some typical challenges a NACE inspector faces on a project site, and how can they manage them effectively?

NACE Inspectors often encounter challenges such as tight project schedules, varying site conditions, and coordinating with multiple contractors to ensure coating standards are met. Effective communication and thorough documentation are essential in managing these challenges. Inspectors often need to diplomatically address non-compliance issues while maintaining good working relationships with the site team. Staying organized and proactive in identifying potential problems early helps ensure projects remain compliant and on schedule.

Job description

Do friends and family come to you whenever something breaks, leaks, squeaks, or cracks? Do you enjoy solving problems, digging into technical details, and helping people make smart decisions about their homes?

3 Arrows Property Inspection is growing, and weโ€™re looking for high-character individuals who want to serve home buyers with excellence. Our mission is simple: protect families and eliminate surprises during the home-buying process. We accomplish that with integrity, accuracy, and a relentless focus on serving clients well.

Weโ€™re searching for thoughtful professionals who enjoy learning, investigating, and developing true expertise. Home inspections are fast-paced and detail-heavyโ€”and we thrive by being calm, methodical, and thorough.

Our business is growing and we are offering an exciting opportunity for an aggressive self-starter who possesses dedication, professionalism and true people skills. This is a fast paced business with a reputation for quality, custom reports and outstanding customer service. We will train the right individual. Experience and qualifications will determine starting base pay.

THE 3 ARROWS CULTURE

At 3 Arrows, culture matters as much as technical skill. We believe in:

    • Integrity Above Everything - Do what you say, say what you mean, and always put the client's best interests first.
    • Uncompromising Quality - We donโ€™t cut corners. We inspect thoroughly, communicate clearly, and uphold a standard of excellence in every report and every interaction.
    • Service Over Self - We treat every home as if our own family were moving in. Our inspectors protect people, not transactions.
    • Team-Oriented Growth - We share knowledge, support each other, and help the entire team get better. No egosโ€”only solutions.
    • Balanced, Family-Friendly Workdays - Work is important, but family wins. Our inspectors typically finish their days before 5 PM and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
    • Equipping You to Win - You donโ€™t have to show up with everythingโ€”we provide the software, tech, scheduling, tools, ladders, cameras, meters, and equipment you need to do the job right.

If these values resonate with you, youโ€™ll thrive here!

The Ideal Candidate

    • Detail-oriented and methodical
    • A natural problem solver who double-checks their work
    • Someone who enjoys technical research and continual learning
    • Calm under pressure and steady in fast-paced situations
    • Capable of clear written and verbal communication
    • A team player who builds others up
    • Someone who genuinely wants to help home buyers protect their families

What You Can Expect at 3 Arrows

    • The opportunity to protect home buyers and reduce risk in one of the biggest decisions of their lives
    • A supportive, low-stress work culture built on integrity and teamwork
    • Flexible scheduling once trained
    • Full-time work with most days ending before 5 PM
    • All tools and equipment providedโ€”you show up ready to work
    • Paid training, mentorship, and a proven inspection system
    • Growth in communication, building science, and professional expertise

Schedule

    • Full-time โ€“ 5 days per week
    • We never work Sundays but Saturday work is as needed
    • Typical field schedule: 7:45 AM โ€“ 2:00 PM
    • Plus 1โ€“2 hours of report writing in the afternoon (hybrid / home office)
    • Most inspectors are done around 5:00 PM.

Physical Requirements

    • Walk roofs, climb ladders, access attics and crawlspaces
    • Kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, and maneuver in tight spaces
    • Safely lift standard tools and equipment
    • Maintain close, distance, color, and depth perception
    • Field work throughout Lebanon, TN and Middle Tennessee
    • Hybrid: field + home office report writing

Requirements

    • High accountability and strong personal character
    • Coachable mindset and willingness to grow
    • Ability to follow the 3 Arrows structured inspection and communication process
    • Clear verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer proficiency (photos, email, report software)
    • Valid driverโ€™s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
    • Construction background preferred
    • Current home inspector license is preferred
    • 90-hour home inspector training (InterNACHI, AHIT, etc.) completed or have significant progress made

Benefits (After 90 Days)

    • Family vacation bonus
    • 5% team profit-sharing
    • Monthly fuel & vehicle stipend
