Job Description:

The successful candidate will support a highly motivated engineering team in defining, designing, implementing, documenting, testing and sustaining Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) security solutions on National Security Systems, in a DoD environment, using Model-Based Systems Engineering tools like the Cameo suite of tools, current standards within National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) Zero Trust Architecture, Special Publications (SP) 800-207, Developing Cyber-Resilient Systems, NIST SP 800-160 vol2 rev1; DoW Developing Cyber-Resilient Systems: A Systems Security Engineering Approach, and NSA Cybersecurity Technical Report: Zero Trust Implementation Guideline (1 & 2). The candidate will work with system developers in the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art systems using tools and methods above.

Essential Functions:

  • Take technical ownership leading the build and modeling of cybersecurity requirements in a digital engineering solution for model-based systems engineering (MBSE) with tools like Cameo Suite, using standardized modeling languages and frameworks, such as Unified or Systems Modeling Languages (UML, SysML), and Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), mentor and influence engineering team to leverage tools to increase velocity and quality of deliveries.
  • Provide positive mission impact with an opportunity to shape architecture in implementing principles of Zero-Trust Architecture (ZTA) in system design to secure modern, perimeter-less digital environments by removing implicit trust and requiring continuous, strict verification for every user and device, regardless of location, leveraging guidance and standards from NIST, and the National Security Agency to design, build and deploy critical mission systems to our customers.
  • Communicate requirements, designs, implementation strategies, concepts of operation and technical baselines to engineering and customer leadership and systems engineering technical advisors (SETA).
  • This position is performed 100% onsite and cannot be performed remotely.
  • Up to 25% travel is possible

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Bachelorโ€™s Degree minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
    • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
    • Note: Degree must be in computer science or engineering (systems, computer, electrical or software) and experience must include relevance in MBSE digital engineering and/or ZTA.
  • Must have active DOD Secret security clearance. Active TS/SCI is highly desired.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD-recognized baseline security certification, equivalent to IASAE 2 or 3 (CISSP, CSSLP, SecX, ISSEP, ISSAP) within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • System Security Engineer capabilities: Knowledge/proficiency within these guiding references NIST SP 800-160, DoD 5200.39, DOD 5200.47E, DODI 5000.83, and NIST 800-37, to achieve security authorization of supported systems and NSA High Assurance products and SERD requirements.
  • RMF security compliance engineering: RMF strategies with new technology initiatives (hardware, software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus systems and software deployment tools); Infrastructure- / Platform- / Software-as-a-Service (IaaS/PaaS/Saas) cloud implementations; Secure software development.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas isย $127,500 - $236,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont isย $110,500 - $205,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
