We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary CAD Designer Drafter to join the team.
*This is a temporary position not to exceed 26 weeks*
The CAD Designer Drafter will:
  • Support NASA Johnson Space Center spacesuit design and drafting activities using SolidWorks CAD Software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to interpret requirements and develop compliant design and drawing solutions.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and analysis of technical systems and components.
  • Produce engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 and applicable NASA/JSC standards.
  • Prepare documentation and present design work during formal design reviews.
    Participate in project meetings and generate required reports.
  • Create and maintain all CAD files and design documentation within the CAD Data Management System.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requisition Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a HS Diploma or its equivalent.
  • AAS degree, plus an additional 5 - 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have the ability to produce drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5.
  • Must have experience of mechanical designs, technical products and systems.
  • Must have CAD design experience using SolidWorks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS office Products (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Requisition Preferences:
  • Experience with Space Suit components and designs
  • Minimum 2 years' experience using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Experience using CAD Data Management Systems
  • Familiarization with JSC Fabrication Tolerances and Practices
